Melisa, the owner of Lasting Looks, is very Knowledgable in her field. She was asked to address the seminar that was held in Italy and that was a great honor. Melisa has done my eyebrows several times and I am always pleased with the results. You will not be disappointed with her service.
Frequently Asked Questions About Lasting Looks Permanent Cosmetics & Microblading
What is permanent cosmetics?
Permanent Cosmetics is cosmetic tattooing. Colored pigment is implanted into the upper layer of the dermis. It may be referred to as “micro pigmentation”, “derma graphics,” “permanent make-up,” or even “extended wear cosmetics.” – whichever the term, it is still tattooing. Microblading IS a tattoo. It IS permanent.
Also, permanent cosmetics and body art is an industry within itself. It is completely separate from the “Beauty Industry.” Area technicians are claiming to be “in the industry” for several years, inflating their experience. Please use caution when deciding on a technician.
What are the training requirements for technicians?
The Industry of Permanent Cosmetics and Body Art is regulated at the State Level. Every state has different requirements. Delaware is regulated by the Board of Public Health for the safety of the consumer. However, the board is focused on health concerns (very important), NOT ability. Hence, the state does not at all dictate or require ANY training or education in order to begin working on consumers – this includes body art, permanent cosmetics and microblading. Please be sure to only have your procedure done by a technician that completes regular continuing education, keeps an up to date bloodborne pathogen certification and can demonstrate and prove good results.
How are permanent cosmetic procedures done?
Permanent cosmetics procedures are performed using various methods, including the traditional tattoo or coil machines, the pen or rotary machine and the non-machine or hand method. I prefer the manual hand application method for a softer, more natural result.
Are permanent cosmetics really permanent?
Permanent cosmetic procedures are considered permanent because the color is implanted into the skin and cannot be washed off. However, as with any tattoo, fading does occur, requiring periodic maintenance, color refreshing or color boosting. Just like hair color, furniture that may be located near a window, or even house paint, pigment implanted in the skin will fade with time.
Area technicians are claiming that microblading is “semi-permanent.” This is very misleading. While all permanent cosmetics and body art will fade over time, microblading fades quicker because of the small amount of pigment placed in the skin. Fading does NOT mean gone. Pigment particles will always remain where placed and some will be visible for a very long time. Do not embark on this procedure thinking that it will fade in a year and my skin and appearance will be the same as before any procedure was done.
