I considered permanent eyeliner for several years but was always hesitant because of it being so close to my eyes. After seeing results and knowing several people who went to Melisa I decided to do it. Now I wished I had done it sooner! The experience and results exceeded my expectations. Melisa carefully accesses each client’s situation and needs and offers thoughtful guidance. Her experience and professionalism is why she is consistently recommended.

I have been going to Melisa for a couple of years. I've had my brows and top and bottom eyeliner done with touch-ups, and I could not be happier with the results! Melisa is professional, friendly, and very helpful in addressing any concerns. She never seems rushed. She is eager to answer questions and makes suggestions, putting you at ease with her level of knowledge. You sense that you are in good hands from the moment you walk into her studio, which has a very welcoming atmosphere. I sat on the fence for the longest time about having the work done, and I wish I hadn't. I wish I had found Melisa years ago! I recommend her work 100%.
Frequently Asked Questions About Lasting Looks Permanent Cosmetics & Microblading
What is permanent cosmetics?
Permanent Cosmetics is cosmetic tattooing. Colored pigment is implanted into the upper layer of the dermis. It may be referred to as “micro pigmentation”, “derma graphics,” “permanent make-up,” or even “extended wear cosmetics.” – whichever the term, it is still tattooing. Microblading IS a tattoo. It IS permanent.
Also, permanent cosmetics and body art is an industry within itself. It is completely separate from the “Beauty Industry.” Area technicians are claiming to be “in the industry” for several years, inflating their experience. Please use caution when deciding on a technician.
What are the training requirements for technicians?
The Industry of Permanent Cosmetics and Body Art is regulated at the State Level. Every state has different requirements. Delaware is regulated by the Board of Public Health for the safety of the consumer. However, the board is focused on health concerns (very important), NOT ability. Hence, the state does not at all dictate or require ANY training or education in order to begin working on consumers – this includes body art, permanent cosmetics and microblading. Please be sure to only have your procedure done by a technician that completes regular continuing education, keeps an up to date bloodborne pathogen certification and can demonstrate and prove good results.
How are permanent cosmetic procedures done?
Permanent cosmetics procedures are performed using various methods, including the traditional tattoo or coil machines, the pen or rotary machine and the non-machine or hand method. I prefer the manual hand application method for a softer, more natural result.
Are permanent cosmetics really permanent?
Permanent cosmetic procedures are considered permanent because the color is implanted into the skin and cannot be washed off. However, as with any tattoo, fading does occur, requiring periodic maintenance, color refreshing or color boosting. Just like hair color, furniture that may be located near a window, or even house paint, pigment implanted in the skin will fade with time.
Area technicians are claiming that microblading is “semi-permanent.” This is very misleading. While all permanent cosmetics and body art will fade over time, microblading fades quicker because of the small amount of pigment placed in the skin. Fading does NOT mean gone. Pigment particles will always remain where placed and some will be visible for a very long time. Do not embark on this procedure thinking that it will fade in a year and my skin and appearance will be the same as before any procedure was done.
What is permanent cosmetics?
Permanent Cosmetics is cosmetic tattooing where colored pigment is implanted into the upper layer of the dermis. It is also known as micro pigmentation, derma graphics, permanent make-up, or extended wear cosmetics, and is a form of tattooing.
What training should a permanent cosmetics technician have?
Training requirements vary by state. In Delaware, the Board of Public Health regulates health and safety but does not require any training or education to perform procedures. Choose a technician who completes regular continuing education, keeps bloodborne pathogen certification current, and demonstrates good results.
How are permanent cosmetic procedures performed at Lasting Looks?
Procedures can be done using tattoo or coil machines, pen or rotary machines, or the non-machine hand method. The preferred method is manual hand application for a softer, more natural result.
Are permanent cosmetics truly permanent?
Permanent cosmetics implant pigment into the skin, so they cannot be washed off. Fading occurs over time and maintenance is required. Microblading fades quicker due to less pigment but is still permanent and will leave pigment particles visible for a long time.
