- EOErika Osborne3 days ago1.0My friends and I recently visited Sephora for a fun girls’ day to pick out makeup for my friend’s upcoming birthday. We were really excited to explore the store and try new products, especially since we don’t usually wear much makeup. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Several employees came across as rude, unfriendly, and unprofessional. In particular, one employee seemed to follow us throughout the store, which made us feel uncomfortable. When I did ask her for help finding an item, her demeanor was noticeably unpleasant. Overall, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming, which took away from what we had hoped would be a fun and memorable outing. I’ve heard similar feedback about Sephora and how the employees give “mean girls”, which is why I usually shop at Ulta but we chose Sephora this time because my friend really wanted to go for her birthday.

She told me the system had my birthday listed as March but said she could change it and that it would take 24 hours to process. I told her I could show my driver’s license so I could still get my birthday gift today, and she put her hands up and said, “No, I don’t wanna see that.” When I told her she was being rude, she got defensive and said she was going to cancel the whole thing instead of helping me. She even called me stupid to her coworkers afterward. It was honestly disrespectful and unnecessary. I left feeling disappointed. No one deserves that kind of treatment, especially on their birthday. Sephora should make sure their employees treat customers with kindness and professionalism.
