⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1000% Recommend – Pure Magic at Monarch Casino & Spa Our experience at the Monarch Casino & Spa Resort was nothing short of incredible. From start to finish, it was a day of relaxation, surprises, and pure bliss ✨ I had the absolute pleasure of being massaged by Mick—and oh myyyy God… it was hands down one of the best massages I’ve ever had (besides my wife of course😉). Truly magical. My wife also enjoyed her massage immensely with a tall, husky therapist whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch, but he was AMAZING as well. Very kind and caring I want to give a special shoutout to Guest Services, especially Sydney and Lynda. They went above and beyond to help arrange a beautiful surprise for my parents who joined us for the day. That level of kindness and care meant more to us than words can express 💛 All four of us spent the day enjoying the spa, and every single room felt magical in its own way. The experience shower was an absolute blast, and the entire spa atmosphere was calming, luxurious, and unforgettable. If I could afford it, I’d come back every month without hesitation. I highly recommend treating your temple (your body and soul) to a full spa day topped off with a massage. It leaves you feeling renewed, grateful, and ready to plan your next visit. Thank you, Monarch Spa, for an unforgettable experience. We’ll definitely be back! 💆‍♀️✨

In all fairness, this review is based solely on hotel policy and our experience when our stay was interrupted due to a weather event and power outage. We did not stay here, but based on our experience this review is still valid since we will not be staying here in the future because of it. We had booked a weekend stay at the Monarch well in advance and had dinner reservations for the first night at a restaurant at a different property in town. We were aware a local electric utility was de-energizing power lines in the Denver area due to high winds and concerns for wildfires from downed power lines but didn’t realize the this affected Black Hawk. We were packing up and getting ready to leave our house when I got a phone call from the manager at the steakhouse we had reservations at for that evening apologizing and explaining that they were cancelling diner service that night due to the power outage. A clarifying point: this wasn’t an emergency outage. We learned later that the power company had alerted customers well in advance that the power would be turned off at 5am the morning of our stay. I called the Monarch to see if the outage was affecting them too and was told that they had generators powering “some” of the common areas in the hotel but they wouldn’t expand on which areas other than the restaurants were closed and while there was no power in the guest rooms, we could still have running water and the toilets would work. It took more questioning and prodding before I was told there was no heat in the rooms. I asked how we would be able to see anything and was told we could use our phones or bring a flashlight. What??? Obviously, with temperatures down near freezing that weekend, no heat was more of a dealbreaker than no power. But both were less than optimal. My issue is this: if we hadn’t been called by the restaurant manager from another property, we would have shown up unprepared and unaware of what was happening. I realize things must have been chaotic at the hotel but it was after 2pm when we found out and they made ZERO effort to alert us as to what was happening. The only reason this is a 2-star review instead of 1 is because we did get a full refund. However, we ended up joining a bunch of other displaced guests in Cripple Creek that weekend and the Chamonix has earned our hotel & casino business from here on out. This was a HUGE miss for the hotel manager of the Monarch. I realize businesses have insurance that pays out in the event of outages and mass cancellations like this, but the fact that they didn’t have the foresight to start calling guests and offering perks like restaurant or play credits for rescheduling their stay for a future date shows a level of incompetence that astounds me. We ended up taking the refund and had an amazing experience in Cripple Creek that means the Monarch didn’t just miss out on business for that weekend, but for return business and future revenues. And there’s no way to claim that from insurance. Check out Cripple Creek — specifically Chamonix. It’s way better and you’ll be much happier.

My husband and I love this hotel so much! We love how modern this hotel is compared to others in the area and appreciate that machines actually pay out here. If I could make a suggestion to improve the hotel, it would be the pool area. An indoor pool is such a huge plus most places don’t have, in addition to a roof top hot tub, but the atmosphere is feels very cold. Might I suggest during the evening time dimming the can pool lights to a more relaxing color like blue to modernize the space instead of it feeling like a Holiday Inn vibe. The area is so beautiful, but the lighting is so harsh to relax in. Especially in the evening time. Blue lights where the beautiful arches are instead of cold corporate lighting would warm up the place so much! I would also say the same for the hot tub lighting at night. It’s the harshest brightest spotlight in the world and adds no relaxation feel to the area at all🤣 Also, I know a lot of older folks visit this resort, but can we also change up the music to spa music more up to date music than the greatest hits of the 90s??? I would change the lighting, music update the pool decor. More greenery and updated pool beds. I stay at hotel pools often and a huge part of my liking to a place is their atmosphere. Just wanted to provide some helpful improvements from a guest POV! Still very much love this hotel!

We love this place, we spend a lot of money and time here. We spent the weekend three nights to be exact and ate the buffet twice. That’s over $400. Camila I’m assuming was the buffet manager; was rude, inconsiderate and not accommodating for my family. My family showed up a little before me and they seated us for 8 at a 9 person table. I arrived with the other four people of my family and asked that we sit at the table next to them because we were a little tight fitting and you know in a buffet we need room. They made a huge deal about it (it was not busy at all it’s not like we asked during high peak ) they talked amongst themselves right in front of us acting confused why we wanted the other table and made me us feel awful for even asking. Camila comes over and throws her hands up and brushes us off with her hand like she doesn’t want to deal with us. Like we did something wrong. It’s funny because she spoke Spanish and so do we. We know you were talking under your breath and the realized we spoke Spanish and that’s when you walked away ignoring us brushing us off. Camila should not be a manager if you’re going to treat high paying guests that way. I’m not happy and don’t even want to go back to this buffet that I loved so much. I feel so uncomfortable now! And it’s awkward.

We stayed Thursday night. We called to book the room and were not notified about a power outage. At 5am or so, we woke up to no power in the hotel, and no notification from staff about this. When we called to book the room, we were not warned. When we checked in, we were not warned. And when we got to the room, we were left a note that said an "intermittent" outage was possible. An "intermittent" outage implies a short period of time, not a multi-day outage that was PLANNED and COMMUNICATED by the electrical company to this hotel. The city had planned to turn the power off and Monarch knew about this all along. Neglecting to tell guests until they paid, and then leaving a note in rooms that there would be no refunds is a coward decision from whoever planned this. People rely on electricity for medical reasons, however Monarch decided to be shady about the situation and collect hotel charges anyway. Had we been told about this, we would have rescheduled our trip and there would be no issue, but Monarch's management clearly planned this in an attempt to book the hotel and collect money. We woke up first thing in the morning to no power, no water, no lights, and zero attempt from staff on site to help guests leave. Elevators were off and stairs had no indication of where to go. Staff was walking around in their suits as if everything was normal. Again, we understand the outage is out of the control of Monarch, but the way it was handled 100% is, and the way they failed to notify guests is a shocking display of their greed and negligence in keeping people safe over collecting profits. Telling the guests at the property that power would be cut off takes all of one or two announcements over a property wide intercom, however Monarch did not want to do this to keep money flowing into their accounts at the expense of the public. It is laughable that Monarch not only charged us our regular night fee, but added a resort fee for a "resort" that was closed down and not functioning. This will be our first and last stay at this property due to them willingly stealing from thousands of people on Thursday. We are sorry for the staff who has to deal with upset customers regarding this, as their management has completely failed on so many levels. Hiding behind a half hearted "out of our control" decision is wrong, and the management clearly knows this as they immediately become short and aggressive when asked about it. The power being turned off is out of their control, but notifying guests about it, even if it effects their profits, is, and Monarch's management clearly cannot differentiate between the two. The director of hotel operations is willing to steal from guests and lose repeat customers in a lazy attempt to secure short term revenue.
