I want to preface that the last two cuts I’ve gotten there were great, by two different stylists. Prior to that, I’d had several bad cuts/experiences with one stylist in particular, so I usually don’t go in if she’s there. This time I figured I was just getting a trim and cleaning up the layers on chin length bob, but it is by far the worst haircut I’ve ever gotten. I should have left after she shaved my neck, which my hair normally covers up. Then, I watched her hack at the under layer on the back of my neck without holding the hair straight/ flat at all, just scissor as it lay on my neck. The under layer is so crooked and uneven, it looks like I used a weed wacker. At that point, I should have stopped her, but just hoped it would work in the end. To cut the layers, she gathered the top layer of my hair in one hand on top of my head and hacked at it. Overall, my hair is longer on one side, with choppy, uneven layers, about an inch shorter than I wanted, and shorter in the back, a style that I HATE. I just pulled half my hair back, and can see now that in one section, the hair on the back of my neck is cut bluntly, and the section next to it on the side of my head is abruptly at least an inch longer. It is by far the worst haircut I’ve ever gotten, and I’ve heard the same feedback from others about this stylist too. I’m scared to try to have it fixed, as it’s already so short.

Horrible experience. I have my haircut instructions on my online profile so I thought I was safe I kept telling the girl that it was choppy and blocky at the top and she just seemed to get agitated with me and told me to stop moving and it looks good to her. Well it didn't look good to me which I thought was more important. I thought after I washed and put gel in it it would get better but it was just a horrible haircut.

Quick, affordable, and reliable haircut spot especially for someone like me who doesn't need a complicated trim.
The stylists here were very friendly and easy to work with. I was able to get my preferred usual cut measurements added to the app so it could be easy to return and get the same cut again. Waiting time wasn't bad on a Saturday morning but definitely get on the waitlist before showing up to avoid having to wait too long inside the store.
When I dropped by a few months back, they were offering a $15 haircut gift card sale that I was happy to support. Will likely return again if I'm back in the area.

Today was my first time at the Almar location - normally I go to Capitola. Qing did a great job trimming a few inches off my hair. I'd recommend Great Clips Santa Cruz for a quick and affordable haircut.
