  I recently visited the Diptyque boutique to inquire about a limited-edition candle. The associate I interacted with was polite, and while they didn’t have an immediate answer to my question, that in itself was completely fine. Limited releases can be nuanced, and I understand that not every detail is always available in the moment. What stood out to me, however, was the behavior of two other staff members behind the register whom I was not directly interacting with. During my inquiry, I noticed them exchanging looks with one another in a way that felt knowing and conspiratorial, giving the impression that my interest was being silently commented on rather than taken seriously. While subtle, this nonverbal interaction came across as dismissive and meaningfully affected how welcome and respected I felt in the space. I want to note that I am familiar with Diptyque’s in-store experience and have consistently had positive, attentive interactions at the Fillmore Diptyque location, which is why this moment stood out to me. Diptyque is a brand I value, and I share this feedback constructively in the spirit of maintaining a consistently high standard across boutiques. In a luxury retail environment, even small nonverbal cues can significantly shape a client’s experience, particularly for customers engaging with genuine interest and enthusiasm for the product.

  I usually visit the diptyque in San Jose as it is closer to me. They are extremely kind & helpful, I could not say the same about this location , it was almost as if you had to look a certain way to receive help. Since I did not have anyone help me I went up to check out counter to ask for the specific perfume I wanted. I spent a hefty amount & left regretting not heading to the SJ location as they would’ve provided me amazing customer service & some samplers.

  My recommendation is to not shop here while Imael (Sp?) is working. I have just rushed to This location to pick up a gift. I arrived at 4:54 to two sales associates explaining that they were done for the evening. I looked as the clock and asked again if they were closed. Imael opened the door. I asked if he always closes the store early and he responded “ well I’d like too”. Imael then closed the door on me. People like this simply should not work in retail. I will reach out in the morning. Imael said leadership was not in.
