  Really bad experience at Sephora, The Well. I’m an average makeup user, and it takes a lot for me to ask for help in a store. I finally went in because I needed a setting powder. I had previously bought the wrong shades a couple of times, so I specifically asked one of the staff members if he could help me try the shades before I purchased one. He pointed out a powder, put it in my hand, and walked away. I eventually approached a woman of colour, and as a woman of colour myself, I felt more comfortable asking her for help. She was incredibly helpful and actually took the time to help me find the right product. What was especially upsetting was seeing the same guy later actively helping a white customer and applying products for her. I gave my feedback to a woman who I thought was a manager, and she directed me to the Sephora manager. When I explained what happened, instead of taking accountability, he told me that the person I was referring to wasn’t a Sephora employee. As a customer, why should that distinction matter? If someone is working in your store and interacting with customers, I expect the same basic level of service. My friend was actually the reason I decided to go into the store in the first place. She was the one who spoke up for me and showed me what it means to stand up for myself. And honestly, I’m still left with this unsettling feeling about the whole experience. That is why I’m writing this. Thankfully, the women who helped me were kind and genuinely helpful. But the overall experience was incredibly disappointing.

  I came in for a simple exchange and 🩷Tomi🩷made the experience so much better than I expected. She helped me colour match, recommended a few things I ended up loving, and made the whole interaction feel like shopping with a friend rather than being sold to. I’m usually pretty standoffish with sales associates, but she was so genuine and never pushy. She even stayed past closing to help me. Definitely my new go-to person at Sephora!
