  I am leaving a one star review because you need to leave a star to post a review. I also gave myself some time to cool down so I wouldn’t pack this full of cuss words. I came to this Great Clips a while back after the one in Downey kept messing up my hair. Sure, I’ve had some bad haircuts at the Lakewood one, but it wasn’t anything some strategic styling couldn’t hide. I got my haircut today, and this is the first time I have ever left a salon crying. I have extremely bad social anxiety and still paid because I don’t like confrontation. I really wish I would have complained to the hairstylist and that I hadn’t given them a single dime. I got my haircut by a blue/green haired, tattooed stylist I had never seen there before. Part of me wanted to wait for one of the two other ladies I usually see in the salon, but I decided to give her a try. This is the first time I’ve had to intervene several times during a haircut. I asked for 2 inches off and short layers on hair that was just a little past my shoulders. I had to stop her when she started going way shorter than what I wanted, and I had to stop her again when she started randomly thinning chunks of my hair when I never requested that and she never asked for permission. She never checked in with me at all to make sure I was okay with the length, and on top of that she was just speeding through it. I gave myself time to cool down, go home, shower, and try to style it to see if it was something that could be hidden. It’s not. This haircut is by far the worst cut I have ever received. It makes the haircut I thought was bad from the Great Clips in Downey look amazing and that's saying a lot. I am never stepping foot in a Great Clips again. I wish I had listened to my family members who stopped going after their bad experiences. I repeatedly kept giving Great Clips chances because there were some cuts that were decent, but the majority were cuts I just learned to deal with. It finally hit me that I shouldn’t have to keep leaving a hair salon not liking my hair and wondering how I can style it to fix it. I’m not rich, but I’m not poor enough to keep dealing with this. Here’s to waiting for my hair to grow back to a length I can actually style. It was honestly the one thing keeping my confidence from hitting an all time low.

  My experience has been excellent with each Great Clips facility I've visited, and that includes shops in Washington D.C., Beverly Hills, Michigan, and several in southern California. The service has been consitent and I'm always pleased with the haircuts. My most frequent visits are in the new Great Clips store in Lakewood, California. Ruby R. does fantastic work, there!

  Pleasantly surprised! I settled in for a long wait after the quote I was given, but they called my name way ahead of schedule. Ruby did an awesome job on my fade. Fast, friendly, and great value. I’ll definitely be back!
