I visited the store early morning to return my unused hair color. I entered the line, waited my turn, and approached the register as normal. From the moment I stepped forward, the male employee assisting me displayed an extremely dismissive and hostile attitude. I did not catch his name, but he is tall with brown hair. When I approached the counter, he did not greet me or acknowledge me in any way. I stated that I had a return, to which he replied only “OK,” without eye contact or further communication. I handed him the bag containing the unused product, and when he asked what was wrong with it, I explained that it was not needed and had not been used. He responded with silence, staring at the product, before abruptly and aggressively saying, “The receipt?” I informed him that the receipt was inside the bag. He proceeded to scan the items without saying anything further and appeared visibly irritated throughout the process. When the payment terminal prompted me to tap my card, he said nothing until after a moment passed, at which point he curtly told me to tap my card. I immediately apologized and explained that I had not noticed the prompt. He rolled his eyes in response. When my card initially declined due to tapping instead of inserting, he snapped at me and said, “Insert it.” As I attempted to do so, my hands were full and the machine kept sliding away. He stood by and watched without offering any assistance. My friend, who was with me, had to step in and stabilize the terminal so I could complete the transaction. Once the transaction was complete, he said nothing, shoved my empty bag across the counter toward me, and again offered no acknowledgment. When I asked for my receipt, he visibly rolled his eyes and aggressively handed it to me. I want to emphasize that this email is not based on a single negative interaction. I have experienced similar behavior from this same employee on previous visits. On one occasion, when I was still a student, I asked him for product recommendations and whether additional inventory might be available in the back. He immediately said no, stated that what I was holding was all that was available, and refused to offer any further assistance. At the time, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was having a bad day. However, after this most recent experience, it is clear that this behavior is consistent. I have since spoken with a couple of my coworkers, many of whom have had similar negative interactions with this employee. One of them, my manager, was told by him, “You cannot shop here,” when she came to pick up an order for our salon. This is particularly disappointing because every other employee at this location has been consistently kind and professional. In particular, the blonde employee who is also an educator has always gone above and beyond to be helpful, explain product recommendations, and make the shopping experience positive. She is the primary reason I continue to visit this location. I value SalonCentric as a professional supplier, but repeated disrespectful treatment makes it difficult to continue doing business at this store. I hope this matter can be addressed promptly and seriously. Otherwise, I will need to consider taking my business elsewhere. I’m only posting this since I sent an email to their customer support and got no response back other than saying that the issue has been resolved.
