- CMCandi Mo4 days ago1.0This review is a hard one to write since it is regarding the racial indifferance I experienced here. Let me start by saying I have been here several times for trims and recently twice for a cut. I must say there is a mark able difference in the reception to my presence since the staff change. Yesterday I went in to get my pixie haircut shaped up. I knew to check-in online from the last visit when an employee asked if I had done so and told me she would instruct me on how to but did not. So I did this time and was number 4 on the wait list. I showed up after receiving the text and was greeted by another employee who asked me about checking in online and proceeded to tell me there were 4 people ahead of me. There was only 1 other patron in the shop. The other employee who was there (she is the one who in the last visit told me about the app) immediately said she was off the clock and was leaving when I came in. I figured this was directed towards taking me in her chair since she did the same thing the time before but actually stayed and worked on 2 patrons who walked in after me in order not to service me. A few minutes later after being told there were 4 people in front of me, Stephanie calls me up to her chair. She is great and worked to give me what I asked for. Her, the other stylist who greated me and I were vibing over the radio content and singing songs talking about the old roller skating rinks, what I thought was a decent experience. Stephanie gave me the mirror and asked me how the cut was, the haircut was nice there were a couple of things but nothing I couldn't live with and while we stood there and spoke about it, in walks another patron. She looks right at me and says something to the effect of "not in here". I looked at Stephanie and decided to ignore this person's ignorance since my haircut was done but then the other stylist responded to customer "yeah, I know right". To say the least I was offended and I found myself explaining to Stephanie that I come to an establishment like this (implying though I am a Black woman) because I like to get a precision cut and people who cut all day have a hand for it, which is ridiculous that I has to explain why I come to this establishment but I was very uncomfortable and at that moment realized these encounters were from me being unwelcome here. I hate that I had this type of an experience and honestly that I had to write this review. But the change of staff here has made an unwelcome difference in atmosphere and I feel I was treated indifferently based on my skin color and hair type and though I have recommended this place to others like myself because of the experiences I had prior to the changes in staff, I will discourage that now and in the future. Yesterday will be my final visit, and by the way Stephanie was a new employee (they were discussing her new hire paperwork).
