If I could, I would give Britney a 6 star review - she is a real pro!
Through the whole process of camouflaging my FUT hair transplant scar, she was very kind and knowledgeable, and always responded quickly when I sent her a text message with a question.
She charged a very reasonable price for the 3 sessions, and took a conservative approach to ensure that I got favorable results.
Thank you for such a job well done, Britney - I am very happy with the results! :D

My first visit to see Anita was in 2011 to get permanent makeup for my eyebrows. I developed arthritis in my neck and decided not having to hyper-extend my neck each day to "put on" my eyebrows would be a good thing. Not only have my permanent eyebrows eliminated my neck pain, they look consistently great everyday with no effort on my part. Anita did an exceptional, beautiful job and I have been returning to see her for touchups ever since. She is precise, takes time with each client to determine the exact color needed and to apply the color into a perfect shape agreed upon with the client. Her extensive expertise and experience cannot be surpassed. And all this while making everyone feel relaxed and comfortable, as well as carrying on great conversation. I highly recommend anyone seeking permanent makeup for any reason to schedule an appointment at Permanent Effects!

Anita is amazing! I had my permanent eyeliner done by Anita several years ago. Today I went in and did a touchup on my eyeliner just to brighten it up. Truly, it had to be at least 8 to 10 years ago that I originally had it done. Anita is an artist! Very precise in her application and painless!

Because I am a farily old lady, I don't like to apply makeup. Having permanent eye makeup makes me look more current, more lively, more well groomed and Anita's personality and skill is very comforting.
Frequently Asked Questions About Permanent Effects
1. What sets Permanent Effects apart?
At Permanent Effects, we bring over three decades of expertise to permanent makeup. Our unique method employs a gentle approach for superior application and color retention. We collaborate with a pharmacist to create an industry-leading topical anesthetic. Our pigments are renowned for their longevity and color stability, ensuring lasting results for our clients.
2. How long does Permanent Makeup last, and what is the healing process?
Permanent makeup doesn’t wash off, but it does soften gradually. Longevity depends on your skin, sun exposure, skincare (especially retinoids/acids), pigment color, and placement. Typical refresh timelines at Permanent Effects:
• Brows: touch-up about every 2 years
• Eyeliner: generally 4–5 years
• Lip color / lip blush: generally 4–5 years
• Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP): refresh about every 3–6 years
We offer special pricing for touch-ups to help you maintain your look.
Healing: Right after your procedure, we apply a protective ointment. The area will look darker for a few days, then lightly flake as dead skin naturally exfoliates. Keep the area clean and dry, avoid sweating, sun, pools, and makeup on the site, and don’t pick. Most surface healing takes 7–14 days; the true color settles by 4–6 weeks, and we schedule a follow up visit at 4–6 weeks.
3. Is permanent makeup safe, and does it hurt?
With a qualified artist and proper hygiene, permanent makeup is very safe—and most clients report only minimal discomfort.
Safety at Permanent Effects (Scottsdale & Phoenix):
Our gentle technique keeps you comfortable while ensuring precise placement. We use sterile, single-use needles that are disposed of after each use. Our EU-compliant pigments are formulated for facial and scalp use, and we custom-mix colors to suit your skin tone and goals. You’ll go home with clear aftercare instructions for clean, quick healing.
Comfort during your appointment:
Most people describe the sensation as light scratching or pressure. We apply medical-grade topical anesthetics before and throughout the procedure, and our small-gauge needles plus a gentle technique help keep you comfortable—many clients relax or even nap.
4: Can you correct permanent makeup done by another artist (brows, eyeliner, or lips)?
Yes—we have extensive experience in correcting permanent makeup on brows, eyeliner, and lips. At your consultation we assess color and shape, then discuss neutralizing unwanted tones (such as pink/red or grey/blue eyebrows.) We may recommend lightening first if pigment is very dark or has migrated. Please note that additional charges may apply for correction services.
5: Does scalp micropigmentation damage hair follicles or cause hair loss?
No. SMP does not damage follicles and doesn’t cause additional hair loss; it camouflages thinning by replicating the look of hair follicles at the scalp surface.
6: How long does SMP last, and when will I need a touch-up?
SMP is long-lasting and fades gradually. Most clients book a touch-up every 3–6 years to keep the shade and hairline crisp; some prefer earlier refreshers sooner if they want a very sharp look or have higher sun exposure, oilier skin, or use exfoliating/retinoid skincare. Limiting sun and using SPF helps results last longer. At Permanent Effects, we offer special pricing for refreshers and can recommend timing during your check-in
7: How many SMP sessions will I need?
Most clients need 2–3 sessions spaced about two weeks apart (occasionally a fourth for fine-tuning). Sessions are typically a few hours each.
8: Can SMP be removed or changed later?
Yes—SMP can often be lightened or removed with modern pico/ND:YAG lasers, but it usually requires multiple sessions. Always treat SMP as a long-term decision.
9: Will SMP look natural (or shiny) in real life?
With proper hairline design, dot size, spacing, and color matching, SMP looks very realistic—even up close. Keeping the scalp matte (not shiny) helps the “follicle” dots read like natural stubble.
10: Can I come in for a consultation?
Yes. Permanent Effects offers complimentary consultations for both permanent makeup and scalp micropigmentation. We start with a brief phone call to answer your questions; from there, you can either book your appointment or schedule an in-person consultation. Call 480-284-6240 to reserve your complimentary consultation.
