Been bringing the kids for years. Not all great cuts but sufficient and cost effective. I am capable of adjusting small fixes, so no big deal.
However, my hair dresser moved to Utah and I haven't found anyone that I like. Against my better judgement, I went for my own cut this week. My is naturally wavy/curly and it touched my tailbone. I told the gentleman that I'd like more than 4 inches off, maybe 6 or 8. I explained that I need to be able to pull it back for work and would like to add a longer side swept bang that I could tuck behind my ears. Also, I told him that I don't wear my hair curly. I blow it out. I told him that I didn't mind layers but not super short layers and not layered like crazy. My hair is fine and I didn't want it looking super feathery. I explained that, of course, I've been looking up photo inspiration.
He then said that we would just start with getting the length off then discuss and go from there and that it would sit at mid back length. He even pointed the spot out by touching my back in that location. The next 12 minutes, I felt like I was in the twilight zone. He never asked me another question or for input.
My hair was tied up in a damp bun when I arrived. So, with my texture, it started going crazy and frizzy pretty quickly. The stylist used a standard tooth comb. He never wet my hair. Didn't section anything. He simply used the comb haphazardly to lift huge chunks of hair in the air without any rhyme or reason. The comb was getting caught like crazy and was just ripping out hair because it was frizzing and knotting up. I was flinching and just told him it was ok because I am tender headed. I was trying to have faith that he knew what he was doing. Poor decision on my part. I wish I had taken a photo when he was done. He asked if I liked it and how it looked. Due to it frizzing up, I couldn't tell. I did say that. He kept saying how it looked good. Then, he asked if I wanted him to blow it out a little. I was mortified and wanted to cry. No way did I want my hair ripped out anymore or half assed done. I was leaving to go to the grocery store so was attempting to pull my hair up. I felt rushed and told him what I was doing. He said if it was him, he'd leave it down. Yeah right. I really wish you could have seen it. It was horrifying.
All of the details of what I asked for and what I left with was hair barely past my shoulders (not middle of my back), uneven all the way around (not from point cutting), bangs that don't go to my chin (one side is a small piece, the other side is a huge chunk & they are pretty straight cut and don't lay down. (They also don't stay tucked behind my ears) I have minimal layers(ish) on the first couple inches toward the front of my face but I wouldn't actually call them layers. It's a hack job. Worst cut of my entire life.
A couple of more things were off putting by things he said. Bottom line, don't get cut by the red haired guy. At least, not women. However, one of my sons was with me. This gentleman has cut his hair before. My son no longer wants to go there and has been going to a barbershop closer to our home. After we drove away, he explained that this is why he asked to start going somewhere else a couple months ago. Lesson learned.
I've tried blowing it out, straightening it and curling it. Nothing like good and the ends keep forming knots.
Please save yourself the trauma.

I am extremely disappointed with the haircut. I feel that my hair was completely ruined during the appointment. This is not the standard of service I expected, and I am very unhappy with my current appearance. He did in 5 mins. He is shivering while cutting, I am scared while sitting. This is worst haircut I never had. Reached out to customer service and no use.

I had a very disappointing experience today. The stylist (He) spent less than 5 minutes on my haircut, made just two quick cuts, and said it was done. There was no proper sectioning, no styling, and not even basic steps like spraying or managing the hair while cutting. It was painful while cutting my hair because he did not use any spray he just cut my dry hair. I was honestly surprised by how rushed and careless the service felt. Very bad experience!!!!
