Absolutely horrible device and even worse customer service! I thought I needed one installed, then found out the next day that I did not. I paid for the first two weeks of service and the deposit, not to mention the install and uninstall fees to have it put in and removed the next day.. Recently they have been calling me several times a day while I'm at work, leaving voicemails demanding I pay for another two weeks before they will close my account! I already paid for the first two weeks and only had it one day! I finally called them back and explained this to them and the guy went off on me. Gave me a long winded speech, told me he didn't want to hear what I had to say, that he wasn't going to explain the charges, ended it with we're sending you to collections, have a nice day and hung up on me😳 The device itself required several attempts of blowing in and out in order to start your vehicle, repeatedly flashes the same messages when it doesnt read and you have to wait to retry it and repeat this process until it finally registers. We'd be stuck places for up to 15min at a time waiting and retrying, then waiting and retrying. Then once you're able to start your vehicle and start driving it has you do it all over again 1 min later. If I could give them 0 stars and report the guy who took my call today I would. Completely unprofessional, rude and greedy.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
