- NGNate GJul 15, 20253.08 out of 10 times I end up going to autozone to get what I need. After last weeks run around, after calling both stores, im done. Said common brake part was in stock, made sure of location, drove there for no reason. Told to go to other store, so i stupidly did.. to be let down again by a kid that knew nothing about it. Proceed to have him look it up to tell me its not available separately. Showed him how to.do his job on the fiche finder. And low and behold, there is my part... not in stock. Leave very upset, head next door to the zone. They had everything in stock in my hand in 3 minutes. Cheaper too. This is based on 25 years of dealing with these elm grove parts stores. I miss napa.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
