I don’t normally do reviews but if I could leave zero stars, I absolutely would. After nearly SIX MONTHS of being dragged around, we are now being forced to accept a total loss on a vehicle that was fully drivable with cosmetic damage when we dropped it. All because of their inability to provide a consistent, honest, or accurate estimate.
In July, we were given a $9,300 estimate for purely cosmetic damage. The car was perfectly drivable, my son even took it to college three hours away with zero issues…driving it for 2 1/2 months after the accident. The first available appointment wasn’t until September 22, so we waited and dropped it off then.
Two weeks later, the estimate suddenly jumps to $13,000, and the insurance declares the vehicle a total loss. After arguing with both the body shop and our insurance company, it was determined that the car was not totaled and could, in fact, be repaired because they realized that had “some wiggle room in the estimate.” The service manager personally assured me he would stay within budget and said “I don’t care what the insurance company says, I’m fixing your truck…”
Then we waited another five weeks before the vehicle even went into the shop. But that was because all of their paint bays were being redone and they failed to mention that the 2 times I called and was assured it was going in “next week.” One week after it actually goes in, the estimate skyrocketed again to nearly $17,000, and the truck was declared a total loss for the second time.
At this point, the estimate had items that weren’t damaged in the accident, charges that made no sense, and even what appears to be duplicate and inflated line items (noted by my insurance agent). But because this shop is a “preferred provider,” the insurance company refuses to audit the estimate.
Now we’re left with two unacceptable options:
A) Take the total loss on a vehicle that should have been repaired months ago which is now in pieces and without a windshield, or
B) Seek legal counsel to challenge the mess this shop created.
This entire ordeal could have been avoided if they had simply given us an honest, accurate estimate from the start and we would have probably taken it to a different shop. Instead, a $9,300 estimate has somehow nearly DOUBLED—with no transparency, no consistency, mixed messaging, and no accountability whatsoever.
How does a $9,300 estimate become $17,000?
How does a shop change its story multiple times?
How do they get away with this?
I strongly urge anyone considering using this shop: Do. Not. Go. Here. They have wasted our time and ultimately cost us a vehicle that should have been repairable.
