On my travel day of 10/11/2025, I was on route to my destination and about an hour into the drive the back windshield POPPED AND SHATTERED. Yes, you read that right. I was driving down the road, nothing hit me, and this just happened. Shaken, I called the emergency services number and advised that we were safe, but I was afraid to stop the car. The representative told me that I would possibly be waiting several hours if I stopped. But if I drive to the Martinsburg location (which was 40 minutes the opposite direction) they could help me. And they will have all the information that I need. I decided that this was the best option. Mind you, I also my 15-year-old with me, and a VERY packed car as we had a full day of high school soccer and marching band competition. Well imagine my surprise when I arrive to the Martinsburg location, there was no paperwork submitted. The representative there informed me that since I did not pick up the car with them, I would need to pay my deductible because I did not get the protection so I need to pay for this. As a federal employee that generally rents for work, I am typically not asked about protection, in fact- we always hear that your company should not ask us about protection. Well, imagine my surprise when I feel like now, I am being blamed for something that I did not even do. I did not plan for the glass to shatter. This is a 2024 Nissan Rogue and has less than 20K miles. HOW did something like this happen? But now I must pay for it? And then to add to it, additional representatives working would not help me they asked me to move it, where I told them I was not getting back in said car and was basically just being treated like I was in their way and had zero effort to help.
The initial representative asked that I call the Charles Town office where I picked up the car to see if they would decide anything different. After 30 minutes of trying to get thru to the office, I was met with a response from Tiffany of “Oh Crap!” (that’s one of my thoughts). Well, again, I was told that my deductible could not be waived, as when I picked up the car, it had a window. And now it does not. No matter who’s fault it is. Forget that I am renting this car because I credits due to previous bad service and dirty cars and have been an emerald card member for several years and have rented from you several times. Admittedly, I do not rent as much as I did prior to COVID, but still you were my preferred carrier. To not even get an “I am so sorry this happened Georgia” or “Are you and your daughter safe?” “Let’s do what we can to get you back on the road to your destination” None of that happened.
