I was stuck in a freezing parking lot for 10 min. trying to start my vehicle. It made me test nearly 5 or 6 times (I lost count after 4 due to frustration) before it finally accepted the sample. I had surgery on my mouth and jaw several weeks ago, so I shouldn't be blowing into the device as hard as its making me. It's not doing anything good for my healing process. Everyone else I've ever seen with your device has to blow so hard it looks like they go lightheaded. Maybe its time to design a new device. The one's you guys have looks like it was made in the 80's. The only reason I'm giving a decent star review is because the last rep I talked to actually had useful information to help me. Besides that though, almost every other rep I get isn't a native English speaker, and they are nearly impossible to understand. Please raise the bar for English fluency a little. I initially chose you guys because your pricing, service, install, etc. were reasonable. But the trade off for that is starting to look pretty significant. I would think you guys would want a good enough product+service that the client would be willing to recommend it to others. It feels like you guys dont care about that very much.

Always real quick when I need to do bimonthly calibration. Fastest and friendliest I have found. A little cheaper than others too.

This is about intoxaloc, not the shop that installs them. The device is a joke, and hazardous. It makes sense to make someone submit a breath sample to start a vehicle. But to make the driver play hyperventilation passout game Russian roulette is stupid and dangerous. As a passenger, I'd rather ride with someone that just took 6 shots of jack and sniffed a line of fentanyl. At least that driver can keep both hands on the wheel. Seriously think about it, making someone take their hand off the wheel, count hyperventilated breaths in sync with a beeping alarm to the point of light headedness. It's dangerous and stupid. Mathews tires in waupaca is a solid shop, and as far as their automotive business, they professionally install and service/ calibrate the device, and their service as a shop is recommended. But the intoxaloc company and the state that licenses them, you people are idiots. Elementary school students can figure out that " hey a device that distracts a driver and diverts their attention is dangerous." Stupid stupid money hungry people.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
