Shops must obtain express authorization for all work, provide an estimated completion date if a deposit of $250 or more is taken, and cannot refuse to return your vehicle if you refuse to pay for unauthorized repairs. I was not given any estimate, verbal or written. They told me I ran my car out of oil which is ridiculous since you cannot drive a vehicle without oil. They installed both brake pads and rotors without discussing with me the need for the rotors. I was charged over $20 for using my card. There was no warning that there was an additional fee for that. The bill they gave me had the wrong name on it as the owner of the car. How is that even possible? It was not the previous owner's name. The total bill was over $800 with no estimate. It was a shock and it is illegal.
