Felt very unreasonable given it was far in advance and out of my control.

SIXT policy dictates staff are required to jack customers around as much as possible when they arrive at the destination, after long travel. SIXT will take your prepaid money months in advance and then tell you at the counter for pickup they do not accept the most secure method of payment on the planet, the exact payment they gladly took from you when you booked the car The policy REQUIRES you to pay again for the car when you pick it up. They will gladly take your money 2x and leave the burden on you to make sure they refund you for the prepaid payment you made months in advance. It reeks of scam, and likely is a scam, to get you to pay 2x. The world is becoming more enshitified and SIXT is on board, leading the way. SIXT was easily my preferred way to rent a car, u til the executives decided to treat their highest quality customers like criminals, and then demand the customer play a game of 3 card Monte when they pickup the reservation. The senior leadership, in one email, ruined the entire experience. Now SIXT ranks in the same category of the worst of the worst rental car. So if you are a top notch customer who travels a lot and want a to be treated like a criminal, SIXT is the right place for you. Hopefully the bonus was worth it for the execs who decided to treat customers like criminals as part of the “policy”.
