- LZLynne ZickertJan 22, 20265.0We needed a new battery and rear wiper for our van. We went to Advance Auto Parts in Hartford, WI. They tested our battery and then gave us three choices for new batteries. They removed our old battery and put the new one in and then replaced the rear wiper. There was no extra charge for installation or getting rid of the old battery. We were very happy with the courtesy and efficiency. It was a very easy process. Would definitely recommend them to anyone. The price was over $100.00 less than we got quoted at a repair garage.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
