When we pulled up, the employee who was checking us in made a rude comment about how inconvenient it was that we didn’t have a barcode to scan and she had to enter the details manually, which felt a little unnecessary but you know, stressful days happen. Following service (which cost $20 more than our last oil change at this location in November) we received no explanation for the service notes on the receipt. There was a note about oil leakage, however when we checked under the car with cardboard at home, we didn’t find any leakage, and the dipstick didn’t show any oil loss. The biggest issue, however, was that the next day while driving, we started hearing a weird scraping sound. I’m sure you can imagine the panic of getting an oil change only to hear an unexpected scraping noise the next day. We actually bought our own oil since we assumed that the oil wasn’t refilled or we had a severe leak of some sort. When we checked it out, we found a screw was missing from our dust plate, and the scraping noise was from it dragging on the road. I can only assume that this was improperly reinstalled during the oil change. I’m planning on visiting my regular mechanic to get things checked out, and I don’t plan on returning to this location for future oil changes. Valvoline in federal way is a bit of a drive, but I’ve consistently received better service from them.
