Just new to this state of WA, an escapee from SOCAL. A blessing from heaven that my in-laws referred me to this place. My 2022 Explorer is approaching its limits on the factory warranty and was glad to know that they ( SUNSET Ford of Sumner) could extend its warranty to 7 years/100000, for a fee, of course, which I found to be reasonable. Plus they offered me their"Cilajet" plan that protects the exterior of my Explorer in conjunction with "PPF", which was the procedure I know that protects the finish of my vehicle. Their price for this service is reasonable considering the interior of my Explorer is also covered. I won't say what the price is, nor its time or mileage coverage, that's for you all reading this critique of mine to find out. I won't blame you if you start reacting like Pavlov's dogs once you hear their offer and definitely off your rockers if you don't buy-in to their "Cilajet" plan.

My family and I are now the proud owners of a new Ford Expedition from Sunset Ford in Sumner, and we could not be happier with our experience. Our sales associate, Greg, was absolutely amazing. It’s been a very long time since my husband and I have felt this good about working with a sales associate at a dealership.
From the beginning, Greg was extremely kind, patient, and never pushy. He genuinely cared about helping us make the right decision for our family. He showed us several different makes and models, and even took the time to go with us to another Sunset location so we could explore more options. That level of effort is rare these days.
We actually walked away the first time without purchasing, and Greg handled it with so much grace. He only followed up once, and it was simply to see if we had any questions or if there were any other vehicles we’d like to see before finalizing a decision. It never felt salesy only supportive.
When we decided to move forward, the entire experience was smooth, enjoyable, and truly stress-free. We love our new Expedition, and the lifetime powertrain and drivetrain warranty gives us peace of mind that many other dealers don’t offer.
If you're looking for someone who listens, cares, and puts your family first, ask for Greg. We highly recommend him and Sunset Ford in Sumner!
We took our new-to-us Ford Fiesta to Sunset because the calipers seized. We asked them to use our 3rd party warranty company, which they were happy to do. However, there were multiple problems.
1) the paperwork was sent as a recommendation rather than a service request; so the coverage was denied.
2) it took SIX days for Sunset to let us know that it had been denied because the service employee who sent it no longer worked at Sunset and apparently, the current employees were not checking her email or queue. Keep in mind, I checked in with Sunset Ford every 1-2 days for an update.
3) the delay would have been only annoying except for the fact that when the service department called to tell us that it was denied, we were told “I don’t know why it took the warranty company so long to respond.”
4) I called the warranty company and they confirmed that the email was sent the same day the request was made.
5) I confronted Sunset about it (this is directly from my text exchange, unedited — SUNSET had our vehicle for 11 days at this point)
ME: “ I just got off the phone with Bren from the warranty company. He explained to me further some of the information that I didn't understand. However, he also explained to me that he personally sent an email to your dealership on September 26 denying the claim related to uncovered parts.
I guess my question now is how was the email missed? And I was not made aware of it until my continued questioning to Sunset Ford related to the response from the warranty company.
I feel very frustrated that I could have seemingly had my car back by now had the information been relayed to me in a timely manner. And because of this, I am now going to have to rent a car for tomorrow and Friday when I would not have had to do that because I would've had my car back.”
SUNSET: “ Hello, I understand that the delay in response would have been sent to an employee that no longer works here and nobody else has access to. That is no excuse for your time so I can set up a rental car with enterprise in Puyallup at our dealer rate for you. The enterprise will be the one on River Road. Would you be able to make it over there tomorrow?”
ME: “ I could, but tonight would be better; so I had the vehicle for tomorrow and Friday.”
SUNSET: “Let me see if they have something available tonight.”
ME: “ Thank you. Do you happen to know what the rate is?”
SUNSET: “ They do not have anything tonight unfortunately. You will have to call tomorrow morning and confirm before you head over there. The rate is $55/day.”
ME: “ Weird. I'm here now and Corbin says he didn't receive a call and they have cars available. I'm renting one through Expedia right now.”
SUNSET: crickets
6) I called the dealership where we bought the car and they contacted their warranty rep. It was the Rep who figured out the work order had been completed incorrectly, and he reached out to Sunset to request the correct information be sent over.
7) Sunset charges some work by the job, instead of by the hour. The labour on the brakes was $600+!! For a 90 minute job!!
I do not recommend Sunset Ford.
If they were slow getting the work done and expensive, I’d be annoyed. But they didn’t do their work well and they LIED. TWICE.
If I can’t trust you, I can’t recommend you.
Had an awesome buying experience at Sunset Ford in Sumner. Things were great from a down to earth, no pressure salesman (Marciano) to Ceasar who made us a good deal on our trade in, and manager Brad who didn’t let us walk away when we could get the payments where we wanted. They worked with us every step of the way to find the right vehicle and get out the door with our payments where we wanted. Austin in Finance closed out our transaction in record time to get us home for football Sunday! Everyone was friendly but not pushy which I appreciated most. I have walked out of many pushy dealerships because no one is going to make me spend $40k and I find the pushiness to be annoying. It was refreshing to feel like Marciano actually cared if we got a car we liked at a price that worked for us.
Lastly, I test drove the new vehicle with an eighth tank of gas and joked with my husband that they also didn’t fill the tank just like my trade in had the gas light on. But when I drove it away after signing papers, they filled the tank. Was the cherry on top of a great experience!
Highly recommend Sunset for a no pressure purchase and shout out to their ridiculously good lifetime power train warranty and free oil changes on many of their vehicles. They also had a great selection of both new and used. If you’re looking, look no further!

I was referred to Sunset by a friend of mine. I found a truck they had there and traded my 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone edition in for a 2022 Raptor. When we talked about trade in value for my Tundra they found there was an open "safety" recall for a fogged tailight. Toyota did not have a fix for this and they explained they couldnt give me exactly what i wanted for my trade in because there was no fix yet from toyota, and they cant sell a truck with an open recall, and that they would have to sit on my trade in until the fix was issued from Toyota. I understood, what they were talking about, because i also work for Ford, and have seen this happen. So i agreed to a value on my trade in based on that information. I went ahead with the purchase. I had explained to the finance department that i was pre approved and i didnt need to have them run my credit or find financing. They said they understood, but when i was called in to the office for final paperwork, the finance person said they "got me a better rate and saved me monthly money" it was $9 bucks a month. Not huge amount but it was 830pm at this point and ALL the paperwork was printed and finalized, so i signed the papers. Not a big deal, but they do that, because if they find a better rate, they get paid on the back end from the bank for that difference. So i always recommend getting pre approved. Again, i work for Ford and they new that i did. I didnt hide that fact. I left with the truck, and 2 days later the truck had a dead battery. So i bought one, then i was able to look up the history of the truck with my access to Ford, and found the truck had DTC codes fron the past few months. Along with an open safety recall for a "low fuel pressure" issue. I called and tried to speak with my salesperson, who said he would have the sales manager call me asap. It never happened. I called several times, left several messages. Finally got thru to a manager. They explained that the truck went thru "used car check" and was deemd to be ok. I explained that they should have told me about the recall but they hide it from me, and that they told me i couldnt get what i wanted for a trade in on my truck because of a recall for a tail light fogging, but then sold me a truck with a worse recall. The manager said he would call me back, and never did. They did have Justin the service manager reach out to me, and he told me i could bring the truck in for them to find out why it was showing DTC codes "low voltage codes", after he told me it was basically my fault for not getting the crap aftermarket warranty they try to sell customers, and the truck was as is... at this point the trucks factory warranty wasnt up until October 6th, and i didnt want one of those crappy aftermarket warranties they offer. I was going to purchase a good Ford extended warranty. I Just hadnt had the chance at that point. Still to this day, no sales manager has called me back about how crappy this was to do to a person, and hpw rude the service manager was. Along with what the finance person did with not sticking with my bank for financing. And now i got a fine in the mail for someone driving my old Toyota, 6 days after i traded it in, for a toll charge on 520. They left my plates on a truck i dont own anymore, and never sent in the paperwork to the state. I will make it my mission to let everyone i know what my experience was here. They new i work for Ford and still didnt care to try and make things right. Not even a call back. I wanted then to stand behind the truck they sold that only had 16,000 miles on it. If you go here, Make sure you watch what they are doing. Be aware. There is aloy more to this experience, but it would take to long to type all of it out.
