During that time, another cashier called out to me saying “hey Amigo!” at first I didn’t hear him because I was still translating, but he repeated it again. I then noticed some of the other employees laughing in the background. The tone and timing made it feel demeaning, as if he assumed I didn’t speak English because I was helping someone in Spanish. I’m Filipino, not Mexican, but regardless of background, no one should be addressed in a way that feels disrespectful or mocking. This experience made me uncomfortable and disappointed. I genuinely expected better from people in Seattle and from a company like AutoZone. I hope management addresses this and reminds employees to treat every customer with professionalism and respect.
