I was promised that they would use our coupon from our attorney for the first month free and then they also said they had a rebate for $200 once the insulation was done. I would just send that in with the invoice that we paid for it. I did all of that and they’re telling me that it’s only a $200 rebate and they did not give me the first month free like they promised and now they said that they’re going to escalate this and send it to a team to review all the phone conversations to verify if I am speaking the truth about the sales representative who promised me the first month free and a $200 rebate so he said I would get three months for free but now we’re only getting two months for free . To me it’s lying and false advertisement

Not sure if this is a review on intoxakock or my service center Car Toys but both have been problematic in the year and a half I've had my device so far. The list of of issues and money unnecessary paid out to intoxalock is too long for a short review. However my most recent experience with car toys is inexcusable. On September 26th 2025 I had to get my device transferred to a new car I purchased due to my previous car being totalled and state law requires me to get my device installed into a different vehicle within 48 hours otherwise my account closes and im in violation. Car Toys doesn't do field work so I was required to get my car towed to them first to get my state required calibration then once again towed back to them to get the device removed a week later after finding out the car was totalled. It's not their fault I understand the regulations are out of their hands and they have strict rules they need to follow. So hundreds of dollars in towing later I finally get the device into my newly purchased vehicle that had just undergone a thorough inspection by the Ford dealership I've purchased my last two cars from as well with no issue. I went through the pre service inspection with the Car Toys service member without any issues detected. Upon arrival to pick up my car I was informed that while installing the the camera my windshield was cracked! They tried to explain it away as the team member thought it was just dirty but there were actually several little chips in the windshield so that's what caused the 8 inch long crack directly behind the camera. My wife and I were furious but stayed very calm. I was later informed that their corporate office declined to pay for any damages and stated that the crack was a result of pre existing damage even though there was nothing about that on the pre service inspection of the vehicle signed by both myself and the service member. After that I was informed I could get a slight discount through one of car toys vendors and get a new windshield for $680.... my wife and I have both tried to contact Car Toys corporate office via email and phone and just get automated systems asking to leave a message about our complaint and they will get back to us. However car toys filed for bankruptcy in August of this year and it was finalized in the beginning of October so apparently they have no record of us or our work done over the past year and a half and nobody knows anything or seems to care. So along with the thousands of dollars I've already spent through intoxalock and car toys I now need to buy a new windshield on my newly purchased car. I will say the employees at Car Toys are very friendly and try to work with me but at this point that's not enough to make up for the amount of money all this has cost me. If someone from Car Toys new owners Foss Audio and Tint reads this review I'd appreciate some feedback. Olympia Car Toys, 2018 Toyota C-HR service date 9/26/25
Edit: I revised my review because I was contacted by a very helpful woman named Patricia from Intoxalock's customer advocacy department. She was very receptive to my concerns and offered me not only a form to submit for my windshield damage that will be reviewed for possible reimbursement but also $100 credit on my account for my troubles. The communication was great and hopefully this will resolve my most recent issues I had with my service center. When you are diligent about addressing any issues you have with Intoxalock they really do try their best to help you. I will update my review again once I find out if my claim for damages is accepted. Thank you Patricia for your help!

As a first time User of an interlock device I must say I was very scared at first and nervous. That being said I am beyond grateful, happy and AMAZED by the top-tier customer service Intoxalock offers, especially with the wonderful last representative I spoke to, Kesha. Kesha was extremely kind and helpful with assisting me in needing to remove my device until I get a new reliable car which I thought was going to be so confusing that I kept putting it off until today. And thank goodness, because she was even kinder and quicker than any other person I got connected with which is saying a lot because everyone has just been so quick, friendly and respectful about all of my first timer questions. Kesha made me feel even less anxious or nervous about resuming my device in a new vehicle because Intoxalock truly seems to care a lot about their consumers and their employees by hiring and training the kindest and most knowledgeable staff I have ever encountered.
Thank you again to Kesha and Intoxalock for having the best, most helpful, respectful and brightest staff all around. 💛

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
What should I do if my ignition interlock device locks me out?
If your ignition interlock device locks you out, it’s usually due to missed tests, failed tests, or state-specific requirements. Intoxalock offers a simple lockout override process in most cases to help you get back on the road quickly. Contact Intoxalock customer support for assistance and to understand the steps needed to resolve the issue.
