Intoxalock has been nothing but a nightmare. First was sent ro a center more than 30 mins away from where I live for a install center then get to the place to have it installed and they have my name and phone number but a whole different make model and yr for my car that I've never ever heard of then try to pick my car up after installed they didn't wanna release my car because they didn't have the right car info and couldn't get a hold of anyone and then bevause of a missed blo while driving they locked my car out earn thoughh 5 to ten mins later had to blo again because obviously I had to get the horn to stop blowing and light's to stop flashing even so they locked out my other blo n go never locked me out for that. Then I had to call intalock 4 times back to back and roadside assist back to back because my name number license plate number not vin number would show up to have it towed. Then didnt want to tow it to the place they had me have the device installed at so I found a place 5 miles from my house, still don't understand why they didn't send me to them in the 1st place idk. Its been nothing but a headache the whole time. I've had the blo n go from 2 different places besides this place & the whole experience all a way around was better with the 2 other companies and the other devices33¾is but

Can't reach anybody on the phone for days!!! I'm being billed for a lockout and I can't talk to anyone about it! Seems they don't care about the customer.. very poor customer relation!!
After leaving this review the owner commented back for me to call the same number I have been trying again and I both called and texted! Just as I am speaking I was billed another $166.00 that is not correct. Been on hold for 45 minutes, no resolve of issues!!
... I received a phone call today, April 3rd, I was treated very well and good solutions came from the conversation and was happy with the call. Thank you.

Though Customer service over the phone has for the most part been very good, the app leaves a lot to be desired. I have made several attempts to advise changes to reflect that I am scheduled for removal and all payments are final and approval for removal has all been acknowledged, but there still has been several notifications sent for me to renew my lease. I received another one this morning. Very frustrating when a person does his best and even though simple issues arose during the contract period I was not given an ounce of compassion. I am glad to be done with Inyoxalock!
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.
Where do I get an ignition interlock device?
Ignition interlock devices can be installed at certified service centers nationwide. Intoxalock offers a convenient network of locations and helps you schedule an installation appointment near you. Visit our Intoxalock locations page or call us to find the nearest service center and begin the installation process.
How long will my installation take?
Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
What should I do if my ignition interlock device locks me out?
If your ignition interlock device locks you out, it’s usually due to missed tests, failed tests, or state-specific requirements.
