- BMBen MullinsDec 18, 20253.0I've been bringing my vehicles to Dave's ever since I moved out here in 2021. They've typically done good and honest work at reasonably fair prices but sometimes they fall short and lately I find myself turning to them less and less and taking my business elsewhere. If you aren't mechanically inclined, definitely shop around and do your research before just agreeing to the cost of work. Dave's tends to be competitive on pricing for some things but can be on the high end or extremely outrageous for others. If you don't have a good pulse on vehicle maintenance or you don't do your homework, your ignorance will sometimes make you pay more than you need to at Dave's - sometimes as much or even more than dealership pricing. If you can buy the part yourself and do the work in less than 30 minutes, then you'll be saving yourself a lot of money over what they charge. If you can't do it yourself and the price they quoted is reasonable, then have them do the work for you as they will do a good quality job. But also don't be afraid to decline recommended work by them if the price is too high and go down the road for better priced service. Also, be sure to keep detailed records for the work you've had done by them. They've recommended work orders that they themselves have recently done previously for me and when I've pointed it out they apologized and removed it, but that makes the place feel a little shady. As if they either aren't on top of things by checking your vehicles history or by taking the time and care to really determine if you need it, or if they're just trying to double dip at your expense by adding unnecessary work. Overall, it's hard finding a perfect mechanic you know will take care of you and not take advantage of you. I'd say Dave's falls smack in the middle of that. Not too crazy you need to avoid altogether but definitely not so easy you can drop your guard.

I have had them do work from oil changes to an engine replacement and they are timely and keep to their estimate... but best of all, they're just nice people!
