Dropped off tires with wheels to be mounted and balanced. When I came to pick them up, I picked up the 1st tire in the stack and the weights had fallen off of it and has laying on the 2nd one. They had not cleaned the area before sticking a stick on weight. When rolling the wheels to the truck the GM saw me look at 1 of the tires rolling wobbly, said yeah that one is rolling funny. I was in a hurry since they were balanced twice and thought no more about it. After mounting them I noticed a vibration and thought since it needed an alignment, that was the issue. I had it aligned and the vibration at highway speed was worse. I checked steering and then jacked up the car and spun the wheels. One of the wheels (the one that rolled funny), has a bent section on the bead seat on the inner part of the wheel. I am replacing it due to vibration and seems like it is not holding the tire good at that area. I do not want my wife to have a blow out due to this. How in the world can you not see or even feel a bent rim like that on the balancer? There was 3/8" or more movement on the tire and wheel in that area. The tire isn't even circular right now on the car. Now I have to spend more money to have another wheel mounted and balanced. I would not recommend this shop.
The #1 cause of uneven or rapid tire wear is misalignment. Your vehicle also may pull to one side or feel "loose" when steering, and you might even observe a drop in fuel economy. Alignment is critical to tire life and vehicle safety. In fact, if you install new tires on a misaligned vehicle, some manufacturers won't even honor your tire warranty. Everyday driving, potholes, hard turns, and sudden stops, gradually knock your wheels out of alignment. This wear is natural, but it can quickly chew through your tires. That's why Tire Discounters includes a FREE alignment ($129.99 value) when you purchase 4 tires installed. It's just another way we help you get more life (and more value) out of your tires.
