  This was actually the second oil change place I stopped by because the mechanic down the road was too busy, but boy am I glad I ended up here. You ever have that feeling when you’re pulling away from a business and realizing “wow, I just got fantastic service.” and you’re just taken aback by it in a good way? That is exactly how I felt leaving this Valvoline location. Andy, Joey, and Shay took such good care of me and my car. I’m honestly a bit disappointed that I don’t live close by (I needed a mid-roadtrip oil change) because I would come back to this location in a heartbeat. Every technician was kind, courteous, and honestly a pleasure to interact with while they worked to get me back on the road efficiently. Even the corporate mandated upsell scripts were handled with grace and without pressure. I never thought I would be raving about an oil change, but when it’s handled this well, you just have to!

  Apparently the gentleman under the hood had gloves soaked in oil. He might have been in the back prior filling or changing out the drums. He did not change gloves. I had excess oil all over my engine compartment. Understand this was a fluid level check and nothing was replaced. I then watched him place the oil stick on the front coiling without ever wiping, replacing then rechecking the level. I told the other gentleman on the computer and he replied he checked all levels. Hard to do when he never had a wipe cloth to begin with. It was just a simple dip stick check and it was a fail. Once he closed the hood he then realized what a mess he left and went to get paper towels to wipe all the oil off the paint. When I got home I spent time cleaning up the mess that was made. I will never return to this location. It’s not the first time they striked out but hey 3 strikes and I’m done. Before this they would not take my coupons. I was advised I would have to go to another location for that discount. Quite a switch and bait. The time before that I was quoted wrong for a service I was looking to get. This is the only location I have had any issues with.

  I’ve been to the Valvoline on Franklin Road in Roanoke countless times and always had a 5-star experience. That’s why this visit was such a shock. The attendant guiding cars in greeted me with attitude right from the start, and when I tried to address it, the manager was just as dismissive and difficult. Instead of taking responsibility or deescalating the situation, they hung up on me. If this is how management now treats loyal, returning customers, I can only imagine how they’ll treat someone new. Consider this a warning — if you value respect and professionalism, you may want to take your business elsewhere.
