- JLJeff LippyFeb 28, 20265.0Battery in vehicle was completely dead after a brutal stretch of cold weather. Ordered a portable jump starter online in hopes it would get it started. Joshua at the store called me when the item came in and answered all my questions thoroughly about how to best use it. I am far from mechanically inclined but never made me feel like any of my questions were dumb. I felt confident after learning about the jump starter from him and it worked on the first try. He later swapped out the battery for me and provided top notch customer service throughout the whole process. Very thankful to have this location nearby - they definitely came through for me when I needed them!

I called ahead, spoke to Jennifer about my battery options, she told me everything I needed to know about my price options & made sure they had it in stock to fit my car. When I went by a few hours later I was helped by a guy (didn't get his name, my bad) who was super knowledgeable and informative about my Subaru. He replaced it in just a few minutes and I was on my way! A huge relief after having it die this week during the snow. I had called Southern Team to make an appointment, but they didn't have anything until the 18th. Their battery price was the same as the 2yr guaranteed option at Advance, and Advance installs it for free.

Typically a car battery will last 2-5 years, with premium batteries lasting 5-6 years. But you should replace it every 4 years for safe measures if you want to avoid any unwanted problems.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
