- MCMargaret CouchFeb 23, 20261.0I came to advance auto at 8:21am to get my battery exchanged because it was under warranty the white older guy with the long beard took at look my battery and said he couldn’t take my battery out because of how it was my truck but I came to this same exact advance auto March of 2024 to get the first battery and the young African American man was able to take the old battery out and put the new battery in with 15mins. The Two fellows that are currently here could not assist me but were able to assist two other white fellas with their batteries. As we have taken our battery out the guy that didn’t want to help us and is now assisting someone else, we have to wait until he finishes helping that guy & neither one of the guys after taking the battery out could confirm that they had the battery! Every customer that came through the door within 45mins was white and they assisted them within minutes mainly. This will definitely be my last time with advance auto on Forest Hill Richmond Va

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
