- CCCarrieApr 4, 20265.0This location did us right and did not make us feel like a burden when we asked for help. Our car decided to stop working while we were shopping at TJ Max. This location took the time to help us check the engine and alternator to confirm we didn't need to call a mechanic. Thankfully we only needed to change our air filter which they had in stock.

- AAAGENT3422Feb 3, 20261.0During a recent visit to Advance Auto Parts to purchase a new battery, I asked an employee whether installation was possible for my vehicle. After checking the make and model, he said yes and proceeded with the purchase and installation. Unfortunately, my car requires special attention for battery replacement (a note that was clearly displayed on their computer screen). Despite that, he began the installation and completely disconnected my old battery before realizing he could not complete the replacement due to these special requirements. I left with the new battery, assuming I could get it installed elsewhere, but most other places require you to buy their battery before installation. After a few days, I returned to the store to return the battery and was met with unprofessional and dismissive treatment. I was understandably frustrated that the initial employee did not take the time to confirm installation compatibility. The overall experience left me frustrated in both the lack of training and the poor customer service I received. After this incident, I no longer plan to shop at Advance Auto Parts.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
