This is my first experience, renting a car. I have to say the check-in process actually the whole process was so easy and customer service was so great to be honest. I don’t leave reviews often but I’ve rented from every car rental business at ORF and SIXT was BY FAR the best experience I’ve ever had. Experience was great and fast. Workers were professional and friendly. Car is clean and drives great. Would recommend to everyone.

There was a misunderstanding with damages on the vehicle and the Sixt staff was swift on fixing the situation. Customer service both at the counter and damage claim were great, and other than the tires the rental was in great condition

Extremely disappointing experience at the Sixt Norfolk Airport location.
After a full day of travel delays, my wife and I arrived around midnight following the sudden death of her mother. We had reserved and prepaid for a basic economy vehicle (~$30/day).
At the counter, we were told our reserved vehicle class was not available. Instead of honoring the reservation with a comparable vehicle or a complimentary upgrade, we were presented with a forced choice:
Wait “25 minutes or more” with no definite timeline for a comparable car, or
Pay for an immediate upgrade
At that time of night, after traveling since early morning and with my wife grieving, waiting an unknown amount of time was not realistic. We felt pressured into upgrading simply to leave the airport.
What’s especially frustrating in hindsight is that there were no other customers in line, and it was midnight. I now strongly question whether it would have truly taken 25 minutes or more to make a comparable vehicle available. In retrospect, I should have called their bluff — but that’s exactly how this tactic works.
When I complained, the branch manager stated the employee did nothing wrong because they are “trained to upsell,” and inaccurately claimed I “did not hesitate” to accept the upgrade. That is not true. The upgrade was chosen only because of the uncertainty and pressure created by the situation, not because it was wanted.
The manager then closed the complaint without addressing my follow-up, issued only a minor adjustment, and avoided the core issue:
Why was I required to pay extra when Sixt failed to provide the vehicle I reserved?
Be informed: If you understand these upsell tactics and are willing to wait them out, you may avoid being taken advantage of. Unfortunately, late-night travelers — especially those under stress — are put in a difficult position.
I will never rent from Sixt again and strongly caution others to be aware of this practice.

November 25 went to NORFOLK international and rented a vehicle at 9:30 at night. The vehicle broke down on the highway in the middle of Atlanta. Called customer service I was stranded on the highway until 4:30 in the morning. They never sent anyone out no tow truck no assistance. The vehicle was in limp mode. I made it to the following exit and got a hotel room not in the budget. The following morning on November 26, the company finally sent a tow truck with another vehicle. At 8:30 in the morning. Almost 12 hours later it took them to correct this situation. I returned the vehicle on December 1 after making it back to Virginia safely to only be blown off and disrespected. I contacted the manager Jared.Spoor in regards to this matter, I was told they would cover the cost of the rental and the hotel for my inconvenience. Scam lies, no answers. Do not I repeat do not rent a car from this place. After 10 days of no communication I went back up to the airport to find out information on what they were gonna do to correct the situation. I have gotten a customer service number as soon as you tell them, what’s going on, they will hang up on you. The worst experience ever do not fall for their fancy website because it does not match the values to a company who takes care of customers safety or listens to their concerns. The customer service is 100% horrible. The communication is awful. This is not a company that is honest or values the customer! Again, I repeat do not Rent a vehicle from this company awful experience! Also pay attention to what the price they quote you and the price you pay
