This public EVgo charging station in Newport News provides fast charging for all major electric vehicles. Located on 772 J Clyde Morris Boulevard, it's near Wawa. The site offers 24/7 access, is ADA-compliant, and supports both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors. While charging, drivers can visit nearby shops or grab food within walking distance. Customers can use the EVgo app to check charger availability, track sessions, and view Time-of-Use pricing where available. It's a convenient and reliable option for both local drivers and those passing through the area.
Quick charging location at the Wawa. I used Paula and she did fine. The adapters looked a little beat up, but they worked. I was able to get a 60KW charge rate for my 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium. Charging from 15% to 85% capacity took about an 1 hour.

The charger named Paula is routinely out of service, has a broken CCS connector rest so people just throw it on the ground, and as a result has a broken/faulty CCS connector. The charger named Randall is equally defective. Neither one ever gets above 40kW/h charging. My vehicle supports up to 225kW/h charging capacity and routinely achieves that at other charging stations (ChargePoint, ElectrifyAmerica, Autel). I sincerely hope that the new chargers Wawa just installed on the other side of the station are with a different company than EVgo. Their customer service is horrendous and the chargers are always like this every location I have visited. BOO EVgo!!!
