- KBKevin BriggsFeb 15, 20261.0Avoid. Bought a more premium battery with 4 yr. warranty that started having issues in the recent cold snap, ~2.5 years after purchase. Of course their tester said it was good, I took it back and it continued to fail to start the vehicle on multiple occasions and they refused to warranty. Another mechanic said it was bad, alernator and starter are fine. Took it to another Advanced Auto location who also tested it and it came back "good", but then failed to start the vehicle right in front of them, so they honored the warranty. Batteries can fail in ways these testers dont catch and after a week and a half of failed starts, wife not being able to drive, and having to take time out of work to deal with this issue, you'd think the company should honor what you paid extra for, but not this location! So I guess they are willing to trade a few bucks for losing a customer! And what do you know, with the brand new battery, the van is running great!

Yes we do offer free battery installation on most products with purchase. We will also recycle and test your battery for free regardless if you bought it from us. Battery testing and installation is available at most of our locations.

Typically a car battery will last 2-5 years, with premium batteries lasting 5-6 years. But you should replace it every 4 years for safe measures if you want to avoid any unwanted problems.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
