- RMRichard MillsNov 22, 20251.0I had pulled up to this store at 750pm on a Sat. They closed at 8pm. I was getting the information needed to get breaks for my truck. The overweight short fella walked over and locked the door before 8pm. The phone numbers to report problems aren't still hooked up. They lost my business forever, O'Reilly's is open tell 10pm. This is the second bad experience ive had at this advance auto parts location. Save yourself some trouble and go to a store that actually appreciates your business. Its not this one.

When they did not — and obviously incorrectly assured they would fit — I tried to return them. I was told that because I opened the small package, it’s NOT returnable. So be advised. Do NOT trust this store to sell you the right equipment. It’s a bad business that does this to its customers. Stay away. Plenty of other options.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
