- CHCam HemmerdingerAug 27, 20251.0Get ready for disappointment… I used Penske’s online booking site to reserve a 12’ moving truck for Saturday pickup. Penske confirmed my reservation, emailed my confirmation number, took my credit card for their security deposit, and guaranteed my truck would be ready at their pick-up location on my scheduled date. Sure enough a Penske rep called me the night before my moving date… My 12’ truck was unfortunately not available. They were sorry for the inconvenience. Could I take a free “upgrade” to a much bigger truck that I don’t need and would be uncomfortable driving? No thanks. So they had to reschedule my van rental for Monday. Monday morning comes and I arrive at Penske and the rep cheerfully informs me that she apologizes for the inconvenience but they have no trucks available. It seems the system overbooked and I’m screwed yet again but at least this time Penske is very, very sorry for the inconvenience. I was then issued my 3rd guaranteed reservation and confirmation number for Tuesday. And to my disbelief on Tuesday they managed to have a truck ready for me. Yay! Third times’ a charm! Thanks Penske. So… if you reserve a van or truck from Penske be prepared to give them a few extra days to get things together. I’ll spare you the part about how Penske then charged my credit card twice, But they’re very sorry about that too and I’m still waiting for the refund.
