I went in to have my battery tested and potentially purchase a new one to be installed, especially since there’s a sign posted outside clearly stating that they offer battery testing and installation services. However, when I asked for help, the employees refused to assist me. I was given no clear explanation as to why the service wasn’t being provided, even though it’s advertised, which I found especially disappointing given that they were promoting the service to customers right outside their store but weren’t following through. I understand that there may sometimes be circumstances that prevent certain services from being performed, but that should be communicated clearly and professionally. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience today. I left feeling misled and disappointed.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
