I recently ran into a serious issue with my L86 6.2L—dealing with lifter and cam problems that can turn into a nightmare fast if you don’t have the right guidance. I stopped by Advance Auto Parts hoping for some direction, and what I got was far beyond that. The store manager stepped in and took the time to really understand what was going on with my engine. He didn’t just try to sell me parts—he asked the right questions, broke things down in a way that actually made sense, and helped me narrow in on exactly what I needed for my situation. His knowledge of the L86 platform, especially when it comes to lifter failure and cam wear, was seriously impressive. What stood out the most was his willingness to go the extra mile. He walked me through potential causes, explained the differences in parts and quality, and made sure I wasn’t throwing money at the wrong fix. That kind of honesty and expertise is hard to find these days. You can tell he’s not just doing a job—he actually understands and cares about what he’s helping with.
