I waited for five minutes to be called up at which point the clerk attempted to all the person behind me who had literally just walked in the store. When I came up to get my part the clerk began ringing my other purchases without asking if I needed anything further and when I mentioned I also needed a sensor he said "I should have taken the other guy, but he wouldn't come up". That's because I WAS THERE FIRST!!!! Then after repeating the year make and model of my vehicle repeatedly I get home to find out that he had given me the wrong part anyway. Upon returning to the store the manager finally returned my purchase after making it seem like he was doing me a favor and after telling him about my experience not an hour before I was offered the least sincere sounding "I'm sorry about that" in the history of apologies. Finally I got the correct part at Autozone where there was no line, the customer service showed in spades, AND the part was literally half the price. Never again will I go to this store. I will happily drive the extra ten minutes to save money, get better service, and not deal with a grimy looking store.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
