Don’t appreciate the upselling of a prepaid car and then acting hurt when declining the outrageous offer. Lady at counter was offering a nicer car at apparently only a few bucks more, using suppedly her own employee discount, - turned out to be more than 2x as much as my prepaid option. Her language barrier was a factor. I declined and opted what I previously selected- she acted hurt and said that she gets paid for upgrades. Not my problem, get a different job. Not renting from Sixt anymore- haven’t had these issues with other rentals.

This was my wife and I’s first time renting with Sixt, and unfortunately, will be the last. I would encourage anyone to read reviews before renting with this company. We had a rental from November 3-4. We picked up the car in NYC and then dropped the car off the next day in Washington DC. We were upgraded to a MUCH nicer car than we originally had reserved. We had a great experience at pickup, during the rental, and at drop off. Unfortunately, the problems began AFTER drop off. Like other rental car companies, we drove into the dropoff area and a Sixt employee met us. I talked with him, we walked around the car together to see if there were any damages, and he told me there weren’t any damages, and everything looked great! He signed off on it, I signed off on it, and he asked me to leave a 5 Star Review. Unlike other rental car companies, the next day, 11/5, I got an email saying that “Important information: New damages discovered on your Sixt rental vehicle”. When you go through drop off, you go through a light tunnel that takes pictures of your car. This is what “detected” the “damages”. These damages were assessed virtually. Then, on 11/14, 9 days later, I get the bill for these “virtually assessed damages”. These “damages” were inspected by someone IN FLORIDA who “virtually assessed” these damages, and the estimate came out to be $1004.64 for repairs from a “Right T-Bone Collision”. I have tried to call the Claims Management line multiple time, and every time I have called I get an automated message saying I am calling outside of temporary hours. The first 4 times I called was on Friday at 5:30pm, and it said the temporary hours were M, W, F from 12pm-8pm EST. Next times I tried to call on a Wednesday during those hours, the temporary hours became M-F, 11am-2pm. I have emailed 3 times with no response. And then I called customer service to see if they could help, and they said only Claims to discuss this with me. And they told me the Claims temporary hours were M, T, and F from 8am-8pm… No one will discuss this with me, no one will answer my questions, emails, or calls. For anyone considering renting with Sixt, save yourself the headache. This company has so many major flaws in their rental process and their customer service process that it isn’t worth the headaches.

As a loyal diamond sixt customer, I've been renting from Sixt all over the world This is the first sixt branch to let me down, They canceled my reservation that I made 2 months before less then 48 hours before pick up disturbing my travel plans, They kept on giving all type of bs reasons, when I made them aware that the reason doesn't have any basis they just went on circles, So if you're not looking for disturbed plans rent from somewhere else

Experience renting was great despite not getting the car I reserved and pre paid. At the counter they tried to up sell into a Buick Enclave which I refused. Then they said they didn't have a car my reserved size so they offered a Tacoma at no extra expense but I told them I wasn't comfortable driving a truck. Then they offered Jeep Wrangler, no way. Finally they came up with a Traverse which was bigger than i wanted to drive in the city but I took it anyways. It wasn't too bad once I got used to it and it worked out good to carry the family around in. Everyone was nice throughout the process of renting and returning. Nate at returning was great. First time going thru Sixt and they seem to want to be a good company.

In September 2025, My father-in-law, David O'Hern booked two cars through Capital One Travel with SIXT Rent A Car to be picked up at Union Station, Washington, DC. My father-in-law, and I, Chris Schafer, went to the SIXT office at the appointed time. The first car I was given had an under-inflated tire. Clearly, the vehicle had not been checked properly before SIXT rented it out to me. I returned the keys to the office and was given another car, Car #2. At no point did a SIXT agent check either vehicle for damage. We tried to exit the parking garage but Car #2 did not have the proper validation to allow it to exit the garage. We went back to the SIXT office (doing so forced us to drive the wrong way on the exit ramps) where they validated the parking. The staff did not offer nor did they inspect the car for damage before checking it out to me. Three days later when we returned the cars a SIXT agent checked each of the cars in (a detailed inspection was not done) and we were told we were clear to go. A week or ten days later, I received an email from SIXT saying a minor scratch was discovered on my car and that I would be charged $532.50 to repair the damage. I disputed the claim with SIXT because: 1. At the point of pick up, there was no inspection made of the car 2. At the point of return, the receiving agent did not detect any damage to the car 3. There was no before and after photographic record of the car 4. The time stamp on the photograph that SIXT provided as evidence of damage was hours after I dropped off the car 5. The car was in SIXT’s possession for many days before the damage claim was made. If there was damage, did it occur under SIXT’s watch? 6. In May, 2025 SIXT settled a class action lawsuit for alleging damages to rental vehicles in the same manner as it has in this case. I believe this is a continuation of the fraudulent behavior SIXT agreed to end and I want SIXT to drop this damage case. Account/Order/Tracking number: DAMAGE CASE : SX- 9076387084-88-800 Money paid to business: 532.50
