CHECK THE TIRES and REFUSE UPGRADES - Sixt did not have the car I reserved and "upgraded" me to a luxury suv that had nails in the tire. Unfortunately the tire light didn't come in until I had pulled out of the rental. Their customer service person on the phone told me to take it to a tire repair and bring in receipts and I would be reimbursed. Luckily the tire place tried to patch it for free, and told me to be careful because all of the tires were bald. Despite providing all of the evidence of that to Sixt, they charged me for a $700 tire, and threatened to damage my credit if I didn't pay it.

If you’re looking for a rental experience that’s more "Masterpiece" and less "B-Movie," go see Quentin T. at Sixt. Usually, renting a car feels like a long, boring opening credit sequence, but Quentin handled everything with the precision of a top-tier director. He was incredibly professional and his customer service went way beyond the script. If they gave out Oscars for car rentals, he’d be taking home Best Actor. Five stars—no jump cuts, no plot holes, just a smooth ride.

Normally positive experience. Always book BMW five series. Sometimes they smell like marijuana, but that’s DC. This time booked the same car, but received filthy e class wagon. Received survey asking if satisfied and indicated no. Received follow up stating that I have been contacted for “resolution “ no one contacted me. No email, no text, no communication in the app. Still better than Hertz, but someone is lying and gaming the internal system, indicating they are addressing concerns when they’re not. The car was sticky, had cigarette burns, and reeked of cannabis.

Sadly this rental agency gets a one-star review. It's not because of the service on pickup it's because of the attempted extortion of approximately $160 for toll fees. My rental was to be 5 days. They attempted to get $160 from me for toll fees or threatened to charge A per toll fine for every toll encounter. In fact, even if I drove toll roads every day including express lanes it would be impossible to use $160 in regular toll fees. But when you combine the penalties this agency attempts to extort from you for not paying their daily toll fee, you would easily pay that much over the course of your rental, or maybe even more. Since most toll in 2026 is electronic, drivers have little choice if they must choose toll routes. Fortunately, I was able to avoid toll routes easily with my GPS. Unless you absolutely must travel on a toll road, and there are very few of those, do not purchase this daily toll extortion fee.

Sixt notified me last Thursday that new damages were discovered on my Thanksgiving rental car. This discovery took about two months. I opened up the link provided and saw the damage in their image showing 2 visible scratches on the bottom of the front bumper. I responded right away saying that I don't believe I damaged the car and asked for more information. The next day Sixt claimed damages of $1,361 and that I needed to pay within 2 weeks. Sixt's claim included a more detailed image of the scratches, an image that added time/date/location info. I noticed that their image was stamped with my exit time/date/location from Sixt, not when I returned. Today I called a Sixt rep and pointed out the damage was evident in their image when I picked the car up, therefore it's not on me. The Sixt rep agreed. I got an email that the case was closed within half hour. In explanation, the Sixt rep said that their Artificial Intelligence program looked at the wrong image in tracking down the damage. AI looked at the Before, not the After image. So in my case, it's was not a human mistake, but something built into the way SIXT's AI works that used the before image! This is maybe the most basic mistake one could make in tracking down a damage incident. I am not claiming fraud. I wish I could get a $200 credit for this hassle. $200 is how much Sixt tried to collect from me for the hassle I caused them...before I pointed out their problem. In place of $200, I'll settle for the joy of circulating their story.
