    ⭐ Extremely Disappointing Experience – Christmas Trip Ruined - Never Rent From Regan Alamo I rarely leave reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared. I booked a 7-seater vehicle well in advance for a Christmas family trip, expecting a smooth pickup late at night. Instead, what I walked into was chaos, poor planning, and complete lack of customer care. When I arrived around 11:30 PM 12/24, I was told there were no 7-seater vehicles available due to “high demand.” I was then pressured to either take a 5-seater (which obviously wouldn’t fit my family and luggage) or a pickup truck, which would have left our luggage exposed to the cold and weather—on Christmas, no less. To make matters worse, the manager on duty made no effort to help. No calls to other rental agencies, no alternatives, no solutions—just excuses. I was told other agencies were “closed at midnight,” and by 12:05 AM, I was informed that all vehicles were now “claimed,” even though my reservation time had just passed. The result? I missed precious time with my family, who were waiting for me, and the joy of arriving together on Christmas was completely taken away. After a long journey, instead of relief and happiness, I was left stressed, frustrated, and deeply disappointed. For a company of this size, this level of poor planning, lack of accountability, and zero empathy—especially during a holiday—is unacceptable. A confirmed reservation should mean something. This experience ruined the start of my Christmas trip, and I hope this review helps others think twice and pushes Alamo to seriously reevaluate how they handle holiday bookings and late-night customers.

    I reserved and was charged for a Standard SUV from December 22 to December 30 (pickup: Washington Reagan National Airport, return: Phoenix Sky Harbor). Several days before pickup, I personally confirmed at the DCA Alamo counter that a Standard SUV would be available. On the pickup date, Alamo stated that no Standard SUV was available and offered only a Compact SUV, which was unsuitable for our group size and luggage. At the same time, a Standard SUV was given to a later customer. We were forced to accept a pickup truck instead. That vehicle was later found to have non-functioning rear turn signal and brake light, creating a serious safety risk. Over the next several days, Alamo customer service and multiple Alamo locations (Cleveland Airport, Toledo, Chicago O’Hare, Chicago Midway) repeatedly assured us that a suitable SUV would be available, but each time this information proved false. We were redirected across multiple cities and ultimately told to seek repairs ourselves, which were not feasible.

    Alamo has THE best customer service of any rental car brand by far! Even Enterprise which is owned by the same company. I love Alamo and I am loyal to them unless they are sold out on my travel dates!!

    Very dissatisfied - this company is not reliable. I reserved a large SUV 2 months in advance and when I arrived they told me they gave all the cars away and only had a small sedan to offer. Manager blamed it on "corporate" which means they have no accountability. Meanwhile a professional car rental like Hertz in the same location actually kept their reservations because their lot had pre-reserved SUVs which shows they actually respect their customers.

    The rental with Alamo was, overall, very good. A reasonable price, the type of vehicle we wanted (needed 3 rows of seats), and essentially a new vehicle (unexpected). The only problem was the very long line to pick up the vehicle at Regan National Airport. We needed a large SUV so we had to wait until they found and cleaned one. I'll consider this to be an anomaly. The person arranging the vehicles for people was patient and accommodating. The vehicle return was fast.
