- TTTMJApr 24, 20241.0Upon returning a truck rental to this location, it was completely empty sans a picture frame that had broken in transit. There was a small amount of glass left in the right side corner of the truck, nearly invisible. I was told I would have to climb into the truck, with a broom, to sweep the entire backside on my own. Not just the glass… all of it. The customer service agent at this location said the entire truck needed to be swept, by me, or they would mark it as damaged due to the broken picture frame. I was handed an old, dirty broom, climbed into the truck and began sweeping as several men in the office watched and laughed from inside, which I found odd and humiliating. As I finished, a Penske driver who was dropping off a truck saw me sweeping and told me the grown men inside of the office were supposed to sweep the truck out, all I had to do was make sure it was filled with gas and that there wasn’t any major damage to the interior or exterior. The picture frame hadn't caused any damage, clearly. He advised me to stop sweeping and shamed the men in the office for allowing a woman to complete work that should have been their own. The fact that several men would lie to have an older woman sweep a moving truck on their accord has never left me. After driving over 13 hours for a relocation, the customer service agent (who has a large birthmark on his face) blatantly lied to exploit me. That being said, I will never use this location again and have motioned to file a complaint with Penske’s corporate office. The workers here should be reprimanded for their lack of professionalism. Shame on you all, and may your deceit and exploitation return to you and yours.
