Horrible company. Malfunctioning devices that make you sit in a frozen car, and kill your battery quite often. Extremely high prices. Horrible "support team." Do not make this your choice of provider. Choose ANYONE else, I warn you.

Intoxalock sales people are toxic and arrogant. I called in to vet my options and the sales person was annoyed I had questions. He kept pushing me to close the sale, and I told him I needed to be sure I had a device and service I'd be happy with. He immediately hung up on me. He then had the audacity to call me again and again until I told him I'd gone with another provider (Smart Start - they're great) and he immediately hung up on me again. LOSERS. Imagine if I had to rely on them for the duration of my install... it would be a complete nightmare.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
