  I have been a loyal Maverik customer for years, which is why this experience at the Maverik on 28th in Ogden, Utah was so disappointing. I had just come from an upsetting medical appointment and stopped in to grab a few things. I used the self-checkout and, after scanning and paying, I stepped slightly to the side while the machine was still loading. I didn’t realize it was prompting for my PIN. Another customer walked up and said, “Someone screwed up the machine.” I immediately heard this, felt embarrassed, and came right back to the register to finish the transaction. I apologized right away. Instead of handling the situation with understanding, the employee, Lavern, doubled down and spoke to me rudely. She told me this is why I need to double check and went on about how there is so much theft and that’s why they’re getting rid of self-checkout. The tone felt accusatory, as if I had done something intentional, when it was clearly just an honest mistake and I was still standing right there in the store. What made it more frustrating was that it was a busy store, with three employees behind the counter and only one actually helping customers, while Lavern stood there criticizing instead of assisting. I understand retail can be stressful, and I respect the work employees do. That’s why this was especially disappointing. As someone who chooses Maverik regularly, I expect to be treated with basic courtesy and respect especially when I immediately took responsibility for a simple oversight. I hope management addresses this, because loyal customers deserve better.

  This location is disgusting and earns the title of worst maverik in ogden. The outside is just foul. The garbages are always overflowing, no matter the time of day. There's always trash on the ground and the gas pumps are grimy. On the inside, there is never any sweet cream for the soda, half of the syrups are missing, and the coke and Dr pepper is always out. There is trash on the counters all the time, meanwhile there's 3 people working, including who I assume is the boss. There is never any food out. I have come at different times of the day to get breakfast or lunch, and everything is gone, yet I see one of the cooks talking to the cashiers in the front. Service is fairly decent, but thats about the only good thing I can comment on. It's disappointing as Maverik is the best gas station around. Upper management needs to get this store in order. I will continue to take my business to the 7th street Maverik.

  I’ve never really had a bad experience at a gas station, but this location is easily the worst. The cashier (a heavier set balding man) was super rude and got snippy that I was asking questions about what vuses he had. I recently had to swap to buying vuses instead of what I usually buy, so I obviously had a few questions. I ended up just going to the closest chevron instead. 0/10 experience
