The supervisor was very rude, and the manager handled the situation poorly. She should not be managing this store if she cannot resolve a simple customer issue professionally and reasonably.
After purchasing about $990 worth of diesel fuel, I started filling my DEF tank. While it was filling, I cleaned my windshield. When I finished, I discovered a large amount of DEF spilled on the ground. I immediately recorded a video and took photos, then went inside the store to explain that the DEF nozzle sensor at Pump #7 was not working properly.
The supervisor called the manager, and the manager instructed her to tell me that it was my responsibility to watch the DEF nozzle while filling. My response is that it is also the store’s responsibility to ensure that its equipment is functioning properly. If the DEF nozzle sensor is defective, it should be repaired or replaced so this does not happen to other truck drivers.
I asked if they could simply give me a complimentary hat as a goodwill gesture and the issue would have been resolved. They refused. The hat sells for around $30, but likely costs the store only a fraction of that amount. Instead of making a small effort to keep a customer happy after I spent over $1,000 on diesel and DEF, they chose to argue and insist that everything was my fault.
I have been in the trucking industry for over five years, and this is the first time something like this has ever happened to me. That tells me that DEF nozzles at other fuel stations function properly. The DEF nozzle at Pump #7 clearly needs to be inspected and replaced.
The employees working at this location were rude, unhelpful, and unwilling to take responsibility for faulty equipment. This was my first and last visit to this facility. I would not recommend this location to other drivers.
