  I’d like to throw a shout-out to James. My son and I had been climbing at the NRG over the weekend and early Sunday morning we both had to head back home. My son was heading back to North Carolina and I was heading up to Maine, or so I thought. My vehicle’s battery was dead. My son gave me a ride to Walmart (they open at 6:00), where I bought a battery and then after installing it, I decided to check the alternator, just in case. Well, the alternator was bad and the closest auto parts store was AutoZone in Oak Hill, Store #1112, (which opens at 9:00). The store promptly opened at 9:00 and James who was cleaning around the register asked me, “How can I help you today,” (and little did I know how much help I would need). I told him my story and he quickly brought me out an alternator and then asked several questions to verify that I knew what I was doing. I bought the alternator and headed to the parking lot to work on my RAV4. Twice he walked out to check up on me but it was the second time where he saw that I needed help (two man job). So he reached into that crowded compartment with me and because of his encouragement, patience and insightful mechanical skills I was able to get that stubborn serpentine belt on the alternator!!! Yea Baby! He did a battery/alternator check, gave me thumbs up and Boom, I was ready for my 900 mile journey back home. If James is representative of the kind of people that live in Oak Hill, WV, then this a great little American town. He demonstrated a strong work ethic, friendliness to a stranger, and an irrepressible optimism that helped this Mainer back home. Thank You James! It’s people like you that make our country great.

  Didn't know walking in the store would be like walking in a rock concert way to loud of heavy metal playing you can't focus on what you're shopping for then the guys behind the counter are always fooling around with each other you can't get quality service the commercial specialist he calls himself is either outside smoking or working on his motorcycle which is parked in the way of the public on the sidewalk instead of the parking lot like the rest of the people why can't he park like the rest of us must be special since they installed a handicapped ramp for the people as well as him to ride up on the walkway, seems they just do what they like out there poor customer services as well they don't know much about vehicle repairs just pushing sales on you definitely not ran like it use to be more of a circus side show bar attitude definitely needs proper management including all new staffing better off going online with Amazon or eBay at least you'll get the correct parts as well cheaper prices don't understand why they're always discounting certain people out there as well if you're going to give friends and family discount then you should markdown for the other customers as well it's only fair. Park in the lot like everyone else definitely needs to be told by upper corporate you're blocking the walk way for people who can't get by for your bikes in the way, and turn off the heavy music it's way too loud other parts store don't act like this very unprofessional!

  Some great and incredibly knowledgeable professionals work at the Oak Hill store. There are a whole bunch of motorheads that know their stuff that will take the time to walk people through complex jobs and are always willing to search long and hard for tough-to-find parts. Brian and John are both real standouts, because of them I don't even bother to go to other local parts stores. I once watched Brian go out to an elderly women's car and help her install spark plugs right in the parking lot when she explained to him she did not have the hand strength to remove them herself. Though it only took him 5 minutes as the plugs were easily accessible, she tried to pay him $40 saying that is what a local garage wanted to do the job. He refused the money and told her to put it into her next oil change or maybe some new wipers. So she came back to the store and bought that stuff immediately. That is the kind of dedication to a company, and just ingrained decency that you don't find anymore. Especially since most retailers treat their employees like easily replaceable widgets! I have witnessed Brian and John's patience in helping to train their younger co-workers to be just as helpful. These two guys have created a hell of a team atmosphere at this store for years. Though I don't know that either is technically considered a manager their leadership by example makes the store the best parts suppliers in our area for damned sure. I feel guilty in not mentioning a whole slew of them by name...for they are a really great bunch. But Brian and John always can be counted on to go above and beyond.
