This is our first experience with this business because we needed someone to install my husband’s interlock device. I can’t remember the receptionist’s name, but she is not only friendly and personable, but extremely informative regarding the interlock device. I took the car in on my husbands behalf while he was working and she walked me through every little thing in the booklet regarding lockouts, calibrations, what to do and what not to do, etc. and was super thorough so I could relay the information to my husband. During installation, she suggested getting a new battery because the life of ours was extremely low and informed that the device constantly runs on this and when I told her we needed to wait on that she wasn’t pushy at all. One of the shop guys came outside to show me how the device worked and explained how touchy it can be and also provided a few different tips and tricks such as putting the device in an oven mitt, (weather permitting.) He was friendly, informative, and made sure I was comfortable with how the device worked to have the ability to “teach” my husband. The second time I needed to contact them was to schedule a calibration a couple months later and the same receptionist was extremely patient with me during the 5 different times I called to get things figured out; (after she gave me the information I needed.) We don’t have experience with having extensive work done on our vehicle(s) here, but as far as providing services for Intoxalock (who have their own crappy reputation,) MaxxedOut Motorsports has been extremely helpful and professional while we were new to the whole thing and made sure not to leave any questions unanswered.

Never will I go back to this place, would not take responsibility for keeping my car for four days, waiting on a part. Then when I suggested I not have to pay fee, for their inconvenience, I got an attitude. Real professional guys. Grow up

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
