- LWlaurel woldAug 4, 20265.0My mom was driving with my 2 year old and her mom (96 years old) in the vehicle when her low oil indicator came on, she was half between her destination her car started sounding off, and she saw this shop. She pulled in, explained the situation, and they were able to fit her in and evaluate the issue, and she called my dad to come pick up them up based on their assessment. It was very kind of them to fit her in given the circumstances of a toddler and 96 year old in the car, and I will consider them for future service even though they are a good distance from my house.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
