I have chosen intoxalock over the other 2 choices for my I.I.D. services. You don't have a lot options for state approved I.I.D. SERVICES They have better devices and equipment, and easier to get started but the service center is car toys and they put customers over intoxalock customer's. Everytime I go there i am waiting for hours. My truck was brought im the shop at noon for installation and they didn't get started till after 2 o'clock and I was there when they opened at 9 in the morning. I watched the guy who was working on it go out side 4 different times to order a hot dog from a stand on the street. Car toys sucks I have a story for Everytime I go there. Intoxalock find another service center

It was worst experience i went through. They are hard to get a hold of. I was hung up on twice by there supervisor. I've had the device for 4 weeks and my car has only ran for 4 days due to there device. I wouldn't recommend this horrible company to anyone. Try the other company. Smartstart

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Use SmartStart, if you can. Avoid this company at all costs. They are a total nightmare. They lock you out of your car, just so you have to pay out of pocket, to have it towed back to them to recalibrate it. We called their customer service, and was hung up on twice in one day. Not to mention, it was installed incorrectly the first time. And the new mechanic told them that he had to install a new device. And was not refunded for the new installation OR the tow fee. Also, they are still charging us for the machine in the car, that does not work!!! We have to pay out of pocket once again, to get it towed back to them. In order to use our vehicle... Please please please, save yourself time and money, I would NOT use this company.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
