Subject: Formal Complaint: Store Manager Misconduct & Public Harassment of Staff at Store
Incident Date & Time: (Just before closing)
Manager Description: Young woman with very blonde, curly hair and glasses.
Employee Description: Tall Black male, early 20s.
To AutoZone Customer Care and District Leadership,
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the toxic and highly unprofessional management behavior I witnessed firsthand at your White Center location on 16th Ave SW.
At approximately 8:55 PM, close to the store's closing time, I was being assisted by a young employee. This associate was absolutely wonderful—he was incredibly patient while helping me locate exactly what I needed, despite the late hour. While checking me out, he made a quick, one-line joke. It was simply excellent, friendly customer service that made my experience feel comfortable and personal. It did absolutely nothing to slow down or disrupt the transaction.
There was a couple waiting in line behind me. Upon hearing the employee's joke, the store manager stepped in and made a snide, public comment to the employee about how the people behind me wanted to check out and that his joke was slowing things down. I can assure you it was not.
Shockingly, the manager then chose to stand there and continuously lecture the employee on why he shouldn't have cracked a joke. By doing this, the manager herself actively delayed my checkout process and created an incredibly tense, awkward environment that made both myself and the employee deeply uncomfortable. Furthermore, if the manager was truly in such a desperate rush to take care of the couple behind me, she should have stepped up and rung them up herself at the other open registers rather than standing there harassing her staff.
Publicly humiliating an excellent, patient employee for practicing basic human kindness is unacceptable leadership. If this manager felt a coaching moment was necessary, it should have been handled privately behind closed doors, not weaponized in front of a line of customers. Her behavior ruined my visit and completely unraveled the stellar service your associate worked hard to provide.
I expect this matter to be escalated directly to the regional District Manager for immediate corrective action. This associate deserves recognition for his patience, and this manager needs severe re-training on basic workplace professionalism and leadership.
Otherwise, the store is great! Would give 5 stars because everyone is always so helpful and friendly there but after what is my first time experiencing anything negative there, I am bringing it down to 3 stars. Need some more training implemented for the leadership roles to better understand how to handle these types of situations.
Thank you

I had such a great experience at AutoZone in West Seattle the other day while getting a new battery. The staff was incredibly patient, calm, and understanding while helping me through a situation that was a little tricky regarding ordering a battery for my car. They really went above and beyond with their customer service, and the whole experience just had a genuinely good, welcoming energy with authenticity and calm.
It’s clear why this location feels like a community staple in West Seattle. Having people who are knowledgeable, customer service oriented and still learning something new in their day-to-day because of the team support/collaboration is apparent, and refreshing to see when you’re dealing with a stressful car issue and it makes such a difference in one's day. 5+++ stars. Thank you all again ~ on behalf of my dad & me

Francisco was super helpful! I called about thirty minutes before the store closed to ask if I could get help changing the bulb in my low-beam headlight. I explained that my bulbs were easy to reach without taking apart any part of my car, and I was told to come in as long as I made it before closing. I came about 15 minutes before the store was going to close, and Francisco helped me. He did so without complaining and with a willing, helpful, and cheerful attitude. This was much appreciated after struggling to switch the bulbs myself. I truly appreciated his positive attitude, even though I arrived close to closing.
